Electric Car Owners Could Charge for Less Than £10 a Month, Says UK’s Largest Smart Charging Firm

Electric car owners could soon charge their EVs for under £10 a month, according to Ohme, the UK’s leading dynamic smart charging company. With electricity prices dropping from 1st July, EV drivers will benefit from reduced charging costs. Greater savings can be achieved by using a smart EV tariff with Ohme at home. The Standard Variable Tariff is set to decrease to 22.4p/kWh on 1st July—the lowest in nearly two years—allowing electric vehicle users to save more when charging domestically. A smart EV tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go could cut an average driver’s monthly expenses down to just £9.92. Ohme’s dynamic chargers connect with the grid in real-time, automatically adjusting for optimal cost and accessing the smartest, greenest energy tariffs available. “This reduction in electricity price is great news for EV drivers,” said David Watson, CEO of Ohme. “However, they can further reduce bills by checking if their supplier offers special tariffs for EVs or switching providers that do.” A typical annual driving distance of 6800 miles would cost £382.50 on the new Standard Variable Tariff but only £119 on a smart tariff like Intelligent Octopus Go*.
