Auto Trader response to Labour Manifesto

Ian Plummer, commercial director at Auto Trader, said;“We would welcome the restoration of the 2030 date change in regards to the ban on new petrol and diesel sales. Manufacturers and broader industry are already working towards this date following the Zero Emissions Mandate that the Government announced last year, so it makes sense to align consumer expectations providing them more certainty. “We also welcome the broader commitments to standardize battery information to reassure buyers, given battery health worries are proving a blocker for some consumers considering making the switch. Although there is more a new Government could do – such as cutting VAT on public charging and supporting the used EV market– to encourage greener motoring.”

Hot Hyundai picks up Rory Reid Award as best car he’s tested over the past year Electrified N model hailed by Reid for aggressive design and stunning performance Latest in long line of accolades for game-changer that is rewriting rulebook for EVs IONIQ 5 N is available to order from £65,000 Leatherhead, 13 June 2024 – The amazing Hyundai IONIQ 5 N success story is continuing at full pace after the electric hyper hatch picked up one of the most prestigious honours in the 2024 Auto Trader New Car Awards. The IONIQ 5 N collected the coveted Rory Reid Award as the car that stands out as the finest he has tested over the past 12 months. The former presenter of TV’s Top Gear cast his vote for the Hyundai ahead of a string of other highly rated new cars, thanks to its compelling blend of sharp design, superb ability on the road and track, and general user-friendliness. Reid, Auto Trader’s YouTube Director, said: “With aggressive styling, stunning performance and all the practicalities you could ever need, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N really does cover all the bases. It’s a truly engaging driving experience that also brings plenty of fun, with surprisingly convincing fake engine noise and gearshifts. If ever there was a car to convince hardcore petrolheads to make the switch to electric, this is it.” The high-performance model is based on the Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) of the standard IONIQ 5 – the 2022 World Car of the Year – and integrates the motorsport-bred technologies and expertise of Hyundai’s N division to take driving enjoyment to a new level. Among a host of key technical advances is a powertrain which delivers greater power output and enhanced performance in battery cooling and braking. The IONIQ 5 N’s electric motors spin up to 21,000 RPM, providing up to 609 PS in normal conditions, or 650 PS when the car’s N Grin Boost (NGB) feature is engaged, maximising acceleration for up to 10 seconds. 0-62mph is achievable in 3.4 seconds, while a top speed of 161mph is attainable on tracks. Other upgrades include a strengthened steering column for improved feedback, Electronic Controlled Suspension that adapts suspension stiffness according to the drive mode, and a suite of sophisticated electronic control technology in the E-GMP platform. Highlights include N Pedal, an intelligent software function that provides instant turn-in and enhanced throttle sensitivity for exhilarating cornering, and fully variable front and rear N Torque Distribution. The IONIQ 5 N also sets a new benchmark in terms of emotional engagement for a performance EV, courtesy of N e-shift, which simulates the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission of internal combustion engine N cars, while the addictive soundtrack that Rory Reid is such a fan of comes via groundbreaking N Active Sound+ technology. The recognition from Auto Trader comes in the wake of a series of high-profile accolades for the IONIQ 5 N, including being crowned 2024 World Performance Car in the World Car Awards. In December it was named TopGear.com’s overall 2023 Car of the Year, following that up in May by being crowned Best EV Hot Hatch in the TopGear.com Electric Awards. In the same month, CAR hailed it as the world’s best electric performance car following a definitive seven-car test. The IONIQ 5 N has also made history at the Nürburgring, where it recorded the fastest electric SUV lap time with Germany’s Sport Auto. Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, said: “The reaction to the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N since its launch has been outstanding, resulting in a string of awards from some of the UK’s most respected media outlets. Receiving this award from Rory demonstrates yet again what an exceptional car the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N is – exciting to drive, great to look at and yet thoroughly usable on a day-to-day basis. It continues to set the standard for performance EVs.” For more information on the IONIQ 5 N, which is available to order from £65,000, visit www.hyundai.co.uk For more on the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N’s success in the Auto Trader awards, which are now in their eighth year, and a full list of the 2024 winners, go to www.autotrader.co.uk/new-car-awards

Nissan ARIYA named Best Car For Long Distances at the Auto Trader New Car Awards

Nissan ARIYA named Best Car For Long Distances at the eighth annual Auto Trader New Car Awards There were 23 award categories, with finalists and overall winners determined by the real-world opinions of 200,000 UK car owners The Nissan ARIYA has been named the UK’s Best Car for Long Distances at the AutoTrader New Car Awards 2024, beating competition from both the Volvo XC60 and BMW iX3 to secure the title. The Auto Trader New Car Awards differ from other automotive awards schemes – the winners aren’t decided by industry insiders, but by the people whose opinions matter most: car owners. This year, more than 200,000 UK car owners completed an online survey sharing exactly what they think of their cars, meaning that their all-important views, derived from own real-world experiences, determined the winners. The Auto Trader recognition for the Nissan ARIYA is the latest in a long line of awards the all-electric coupe crossover has received since its arrival on UK shores. Among organisations to have recognised its many qualities – such as its range of up to 330 miles – are the Caravan and Motorhome Club, Company Car & Van and The Car Expert. ARIYA is also a former Auto Express Car of the Year. As part of the Auto Trader survey, car owners who have bought, driven and lived with their vehicles, were asked to rate them taking into account a variety of lifestyle factors. Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, said: “With its long range, comfort and sleek looks, it’s no wonder the Nissan ARIYA is the car of choice for those travelling long distances. Owners love how cost-efficient it is to run, and its features and technology make driving long distances a breeze. ‘‘One owner said: ‘It’s a comfortable long-distance cruiser. Excellent performance and cheap to run. Very environmentally friendly. Can’t fault it.’ Who are we to argue?’’ Fiona Mackay, Nissan GB Marketing Director, said: ‘‘Naturally, we’re delighted that ARIYA has been named ‘Best Car For Long Distances’ at this year’s Auto Trader New Car Awards. ‘‘It’s particularly pleasing because this accolade is based on the real-world opinions of ARIYA owners from across the UK. It will help dispel any remaining myths that electric vehicles are suitable for short journeys only. ‘‘Aside from its long-distance cruising credentials, ARIYA has so much to offer. A stylish, fully electrified crossover, it combines the practicality of a versatile SUV and the space, comfort and styling of a premium city car. We’re incredibly proud of it and, as I say, thrilled to have won this Auto Trader award.’’ As part of the awards survey, people were asked to rate their cars across 16 different categories, from reliability and performance to appearance and running costs. They were also asked about their overall satisfaction with their vehicle and how likely they would be to recommend it to others. Erin Baker said: “The Auto Trader New Car Awards set out to achieve something different than other awards, and that is to recognise the brands and cars that are achieving excellence in the eyes of real-world car owners, not just industry experts. ‘‘The awards are now in their eighth year and in 2024 we saw over 200,000 car owners telling us exactly how they feel about their cars, making them the most accurate indicator of consumer opinion. Many congratulations to all of this year’s winners and finalists.” A full list of this year’s winners can be found here: www.autotrader.co.uk/new-car-awards #Ends# About Nissan AMIEO (Africa, Middle East, India, Europe & Oceania)Nissan aims to become a truly sustainable company, driving towards a cleaner, safer and more inclusive world. Dacia wins ‘Best Value Brand’ at the Auto Trader New Car Awards for the sixth time

Dacia named ‘Best Value Brand’ at the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2024 for the sixth time, previously winning the category at the annual awards in 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022 and 2023 Sandero Stepway also awarded ‘Best Value Car’ for second year in a row, succeeding the Dacia Duster that won the title in 2022 Award winners are determined purely on ‘real world’ feedback from UK car owners, with over 200,000 sharing their thoughts on their vehicles with Auto Trader Ruggedly-styled Sandero Stepway is priced from just £15,295 on-the-road, making it one of the UK’s most affordable new cars Dacia remains the undisputed value champion after being crowned ‘Best Value Brand’ for the sixth time at the Auto Trader New Car Awards 2024, with the Dacia Sandero Stepway successfully defending its title of ‘Best Value New Car’. Committed to providing UK car buyers with quality, robust cars that blend affordability with a fun ownership experience, these awards prove Dacia is doing just that! It has had a stronghold on the ‘Best Value New Car’ trophy for the last three years with the Sandero Stepway winning last year and the iconic Duster scooping the award in 2022. As in previous years, ‘real world’ feedback from car owners was behind Dacia’s success. This year’s award winners were determined after 200,000 UK car owners shared their thoughts on their car through an online survey hosted by the renowned online car buying resource. They were asked to rate their cars in 16 areas, from reliability and performance to appearance and running costs, as well as how satisfied they were overall with their car and how likely they would be to recommend it to others. On Dacia and the Sandero Stepway beating every other manufacturer and new car when it comes to value, Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, said: “The Dacia Sandero Stepway continues to appeal to those looking for value in their new car. This is our favourite car on a budget, and this is the second year running that Dacia has taken away this award. The Sandero Stepway offers excellent value for money and generous levels of kit for the price. As owners highlighted it’s “Cheap to buy but loaded with bits such as climate control and heated seats”. Baker added: “Dacia also remains top of the tree when it comes to value with no other manufacturer matching the value that Dacia currently offers. Dacia drivers felt overwhelmingly that their car offered the best “bang for buck” on the market with one owner commenting that “I’m on my third Dacia, all have been reliable, cheap to run and insure, together with being fun to drive”.” Luke Broad, Dacia Brand Director for the UK, said: “Dacia offers some of the most affordable cars in the UK. As the feedback from owners confirms, Dacia has been able to dominate the ‘Best Value Brand’ category by complementing an exceedingly attractive purchase price with generous levels of equipment, which most recently includes the range-wide addition of ADAS features such as rear parking sensors, lane keeping assist and automatic headlights, all at no extra cost to the consumer. Regardless of how customers’ requirements and automotive technologies evolve, we will always ensure that Dacia’s commitment to providing the essentials, all for the best value remains unchanged and unrivalled.” Starting from £15,295 on-the-road, the Sandero Stepway is one of the most affordable new cars in the UK, yet also has a generous specification. Its features include Dacia’s modular roof bars that convert from longitudinal to latitudinal to carry loads of up to 80 kg and the availability of Dacia’s intuitive Media Control with a dedicated application or the eight-inch Media Display infotainment system. What’s more, current Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) offers see the Sandero Stepway represent even better value. Until 1 July, the adventurous model is available for the same monthly payment as the Sandero Expression and Extreme versions bought via the limited-time, 6.9% APR representative four-year PCP also attracting an increased deposit contribution of £750. The offers mean the Sandero Stepway can now be purchased for £162 per month* on a 6.9% APR Representative, following a customer deposit of £2,915. This puts car buyers behind the wheel of the Essential TCe 100 Bi-Fuel version for the same monthly amount as a Sandero TCe 100 Bi-Fuel. Nearer the top of the range, customers can have the Sandero Stepway Extreme TCe 90 Auto for £2141 per month on the same 6.9% APR representative PCP offer, which matches the £214 monthly cost of the Sandero’s flagship Journey TCe 902 Auto version. A highlight of the annual awards, the exclusive accolade is presented to vehicles with excellent design that demonstrate a strong sustainability focus. On her reasons for choosing the Scenic E-Tech electric, Erin Baker, Auto Trader’s Editorial Director, commented: “The Renault Scenic E-Tech offers the sort of range on a single charge that usually comes with a much higher price tag. Not only does this give drivers’ peace of mind, but it’s a great looking car inside and out. It’s also packed with tech including, Google integration, parking camera, and heated steering wheel as standard, plus, one of the best things I’ve ever seen on a car – the solar based sunroof. Amazing work, Renault.” Guillaume Sicard, Managing Director Renault UK, said: “This award and the reasons for winning it epitomise what the Scenic E-Tech electric stands for. A game-changer within the family car sector, it is a brilliant all-rounder first and foremost, which makes pure-electric driving a highly viable and attractive proposition, combining excellent usability with the technology and style that is increasingly important to customers.” The accolade adds to the rapidly growing trophy cabinet of the Scenic E-Tech electric, notably following its win of the ‘Car of the Year 2024’ title, which was presented earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show and awarded by 59 car journalists from 22 countries. Brimming with useful and intuitive technology, the Renault Scenic E-Tech’s all-electric powertrain features a compact motor (with 125kW/170hp or 160kW/220hp) plus a 60kW or 87kWh battery pack for a range of up to 379 miles. The long wheelbase ensures an exceptionally spacious cabin while its pioneering Solarbay opacifying glass roof and ingenious rear armrest – which includes storage for devices, screen stands and cup holders – create an inviting, comfortable and practical space for families. Clever use of new materials and a complete absence of leather in the interior are part of a renewed focus on sustainability. In fact, up to 24% of the Scenic E-Tech electric’s materials are recycled while 90% of its mass – including the battery – is recyclable. The 87kWh battery version is available with a choice of three trim levels – techno, esprit Alpine and iconic – and the Renault Scenic E-Tech electric can also be specified with a 60kWh (Comfort Range) battery, which comes exclusively in techno trim. Bentley Environmental Foundation celebrates first anniversary and three new partnerships

Bentley’s global sustainability initiative commemorates highly successful first 12 months Three new partnerships take tally of Foundation organisations to ten Hubbub, Forum for the Future and Renewable World become latest partners Announcement re-confirms luxury marque’s commitment to environmental enterprises and sustainability Bentley Environmental Foundation targets next generation solutions to environmental challenges as part of firm’s Beyond100 strategy (Crewe, 13 June 2024) The Bentley Environmental Foundation today celebrated its first anniversary with the announcement of three new partnerships. The latest group of organisations – Hubbub, Forum for the Future and Renewable World – to join the Foundation takes the total number of partners to ten in just 12 months, further reflecting Bentley’s ongoing ambitions to help preserve and regenerate the planet for future generations. UK-based charity Hubbub brings businesses, organisations, local authorities and community groups together to create environmental campaigns. Last year, the award-winning charity delivered 49 projects, encouraging over six million people to think differently about environmental issues. A Hubbub poll found 78 per cent of people felt better after spending time in nature, yet more than a third spent less than an hour a week doing so. With support from the Foundation, Hubbub plans to bring people closer to nature by connecting community-led green spaces across the UK, with work starting this summer. Forum for the Future is a leading international non-profit that, for the last 28 years, has been working to accelerate the shift towards a just and regenerative future. Through a series of partnerships with governments, businesses and local groups, Forum has focussed attention on how we produce, consume and think about our food and energy. Forum’s ‘Business Transformation Compass’, launched in 2021, urged companies to step up to sustainability challenges and put people and the planet at the heart of their response. The Foundation will support a new phase of the project, developing and sharing revised guidance on how businesses can drive lasting change along with real-world examples of trailblazing businesses already putting theory into practice. Renewable World enable people living in poverty to transform their lives by improving their access to clean energy, empowering them to develop sustainable and resilient livelihoods, and mitigating the impact of climate change. The Foundation will be supporting The CLASS Project in western Nepal’s Banke National Park, which will pilot clean energy approaches to improve livelihoods, conservation, safety and sustainability. Part of the luxury marque’s industry-leading Beyond100 strategy, the Bentley Environmental Foundation highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting sustainability initiatives on a global scale. In its first 12 months, the Foundation’s existing seven partners have already achieved a number of key milestones. These include: A series of SeaTrees projects in Kenya, Spain and Portugal have resulted in the planting of over 200,000 mangrove trees, the restoration of 15,000 m2 of seagrass and the creation of local jobs Both SeaTrees and river clean-up charity everwave have also featured in the BBC’s Blue Horizons documentary series Foundation funding has successfully transitioned the Biomimicry Institute’s Ray of Hope Prize from a ten-week prize competition into a six-month accelerator, with a series of new start-ups due to be announced shortly Elsewhere, Blue Marine Foundation funding supported a scientific expedition in the Dominican Republic – the investment ensured the country committed to protecting over 30 per cent of its waterways A Volkswagen Group collaboration with the Audi Environmental Foundation and the Ferry Porsche Foundation in Thailand will start collecting over 20 tons of river waste every month, while a new education programme will raise awareness of the problem of river waste Last month (May 2024), the Bentley Environmental Foundation welcomed the launch of Drawdown’s Capital Coalition. The new initiative for impact investors and philanthropists guides private capital to strategic, science-based climate solutions, all under the watchful eye of Dr. Jonathan Foley Finally, closer to the Bentley headquarters in Crewe, England, a project with The River’s Trust is well underway to regenerate the Valley Brook River, with two traineeships improving local environmental skills Beyond the impact of philanthropy alone, the Bentley Environmental Foundation has enjoyed further achievements. Alumni of the Biomimicry Institute’s Ray of Hope Prize pitched to Bentley’s own design department, inspiring its internal team to consider the further integration and application of nature-inspired projects. A ‘Let’s Talk Sustainability’ forum was created to discuss sustainability topics, hosted by Bentley’s expert partners for more than 4,000 colleagues in Crewe. Meanwhile, volunteering opportunities for Bentley colleagues have been hosted throughout the year, with integrated content from Foundation partners also added to the company’s eAcademy curriculum. Bentley also continues to inspire and educate early career colleagues by providing placements via the Foundation, who have recently become proud members of the Environmental Funders Network and Catalyst 2030. Commenting on the new partnerships, Gavin Ellis, Director and Co-Founder of Hubbub, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Bentley Foundation to increase both access and connection to nature for communities across the UK. Our work together will support grass roots community-led green spaces to thrive, which will lead to multiple environmental and wellbeing improvements for those who use them.” Dr Sally Uren OBE, Forum for the Future’s Chief Executive, said: “At Forum for the Future, we believe the next wave of sustainability will be centred around a ‘just and regenerative’ mindset – one that puts people and planet at the heart of responses to the issues we face. That’s why we’re partnering with the Bentley Environmental Foundation. Together, we will update the ‘Business Transformation Compass’, which originally launched in 2021. The revised toolkit is set to inspire by providing real-world examples from trailblazer companies already putting guidance into practice. Forum will also step up its outreach – working alongside business schools to reach future generations of business leaders.” Eamon Cassidy, CEO of Renewable World, added: “We are delighted by our new partnership with the Bentley Environmental Foundation. Our partnership will support communities and other stakeholders seeking to build sustainable livelihoods, tackle climate change and reduce human-wildlife conflict. This is a great opportunity to test a package of recently piloted…
