Broad Arrow presents McLaren supercars owned by F1 World Champions Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction

Images are for editorial use only. Broad Arrow offers McLaren MP4-12C supercars personally owned by Sir Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button The MP4-12C defined the future of McLaren Automotive and its subsequent models Hamilton and Button contributed extensively to development of the MP4-12C, providing valuable feedback that was implemented in production models Extremely rare opportunity to own a supercar that defined a global brand and that was owned by a modern-era Formula One World Champion Both cars to feature at the inaugural Broad Arrow Auction at Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on 24-25 May 2025 London, England: 22nd April 2025 – Broad Arrow, a Hagerty company (NYSE: HGTY), will be auctioning two unique McLaren supercars with exceptional provenance at its inaugural Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction on 24-25 May 2025. The McLaren MP4-12C is regarded as the cornerstone of the modern era for McLaren Automotive. It returned the renowned British marque to the upper echelons of the supercar world after the success of the iconic McLaren F1 in the 1990s. At the time of its reveal in 2010, McLaren had two Formula One Drivers’ Champions on its F1 team, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button. Both were instrumental in the development of the MP4-12C, with Hamilton requesting the steering wheel be slimmed down and adjustments to the paddle-shifters for both position and to provide a more audible click, similar to the configuration in his McLaren F1 car. Former boss of McLaren, Ron Dennis, gifted an MP4-12C to both drivers in recognition of their contribution to the creation of this impressive supercar and their success on F1 circuits around the world. Broad Arrow is now in the enviable position of offering both cars for sale at its inaugural Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction. “Broad Arrow is extremely proud to have been entrusted to find new owners for these remarkably special McLaren supercars that were owned by Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button” says Joe Twyman, VP of Sales for Broad Arrow’s EMEA Region. “These two McLaren MP4-12C models have a very special place in motoring history. The two F1 World Champions provided invaluable expertise in the development of the MP4-12C that would not only compete in the market with Ferrari and Lamborghini but would define the future of McLaren Automotive and the models it has produced since.” Registered to the seven-time Formula One Drivers’ Champion on 1 March 2012, Hamilton’s MP4-12C was initially delivered to Switzerland, but re-routed to Monte Carlo after Hamilton moved to Monaco. It boasts a unique specification, configured by Hamilton himself at the McLaren factory in Woking, England. He kept the car in Monaco, where he drove it regularly and famously took it to Cannes for a music video shoot with Swizz Beatz. This highly collectible McLaren MP4-12C features numerous carbon fibre options, including the front spoiler, rear diffuser and mirror casings. It also has the Stealth Pack and optional five-spoke wheels in Satin Dark Grey. After delivery of the car, Hamilton also arranged for the windows to be tinted. As an early model, this MP4-12C features the swipe door feature, which was changed in later models, something that further adds to its collectability. This is a McLaren with ultimate provenance, a unique MP4-12C with a specification chosen by Sir Lewis Hamilton himself and that served as one of his own personal cars. Ownership provides a piece of F1 history as well as a car that signalled the return of McLaren to series production supercars. The MP4-12C, designed by famous designer, Frank Stephenson, was more than a match for anything from Italian rivals, most of which were produced in much greater numbers than the McLaren, ensuring the MP4-12C retains its exclusivity. At its heart was a 592hp twin-turbo V8, but beyond its highly engaging powertrain, McLaren’s exceptional innovation in aerodynamics, engineering and performance made it the perfect car for a championship-winning F1 driver. 2009 F1 World Champion, Jenson Button, is such a driver and he too was proud to be involved in the development of the MP4-12C. It is his personal car that will be offered alongside Hamilton’s at Broad Arrow’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction. This car was actually Button’s second, as the first one provided to him was returned to the factory to be used to continue development work. Button then personally chose a second car, featuring stunning Elite Pearl White paintwork and an interior trimmed in Harissa Red and Black leather. Along with the difference in color, Button’s car features carbon fibre for the interior trim and the steering wheel. Button’s MP4-12C was configured in consultation with McLaren Monaco before being supplied to the F1 champion. In 2012 it was sold to a private collection in the UK. It remained with that collection until now, being regularly maintained by the McLaren dealer network and today showing less than 12,000km. These two McLaren MP4-12C supercars are testament to the pioneering design and engineering of McLaren Automotive. Their unique provenance as being specified and owned by two of the most famous F1 drivers of the current era, undoubtedly make them an enticing addition for any collector. “This is a very rare opportunity to own the personal McLaren MP4-12C supercars of Sir Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button,” says Twyman. “Created to the specification of each of these F1 World Champions, these two cars feature incredible provenance that spans both the motoring and motorsport worlds.” The McLarens are sure to stir competition among bidders, worthy of any race to the chequered flag, when bidding commences at the inaugural Broad Arrow Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction next month. Ana Gabriela Oquendo, one of the most prominent Ecuadorian motoring journalists, joins WWCOTY

Images are for editorial use only. From “En Curva” Magazine, Oquendo provides reliable and rigorous information on the automotive sector on a daily basis. April 2025 – The Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year (WWCOTY) is pleased to announce that Ana Gabriela Oquendo has joined its international jury, the only car award in the world with a jury composed exclusively of women motoring journalists. Oquendo’s addition to WWCOTY, an organization present in 55 countries, strengthens the role of Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year in Latam where it is already present in many countries, including Ecuador. WWCOTY already has Judith Hernandez, from Autoin magazine, as a juror. Currently, Ana Gabrielas works at En Curva magazine. It’s a specialized media that creates content about the Ecuadorian and global automotive sector. She undertakes test drives, vehicle reviews, comparisons and provides general content on mobility-related topics. She creates informative and engaging content in various formats. Ana Gabriela Oquendo’s journey in the automotive world began in her childhood. Cars were always a big part of her family, particularly through her father, who always kept his car in the best condition. When she was a teenager, one of her brothers started studying Mechanical Engineering. He and her other brother started to repair their cars on their own, which sparked her interest in learning more about the automotive world. “I’m truly honored to be part of WWCOTY. It’s a pleasure to share this space with other women and be part of an expert network in the automotive world. Additionally, I feel pride in the achievements I’ve accomplished through hard work. It’s definitely an exciting moment for me!” About Ecuador The Ecuadorian automotive market is still developing. It remains limited, if you compare it to countries like Colombia or Peru. However, the potential exists. Combustion engine vehicles are still the top sellers, but hybrid and electric car sales are steadily growing. In terms of segments, SUVs and pick-ups are the most popular choices, while Chevrolet and KIA currently lead in sales. This landscape could shift this year, with several new model launches on the horizon. The arrival of brands like Isuzu has many companies in Ecuador’s automotive industry eagerly anticipating what’s to come. About Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year is the only car awards group in the world comprised exclusively of women motoring journalists. It was created by New Zealand motoring journalist Sandy Myhre in 2009. She is Honorary President while Marta García is Executive President. This unique award aims to recognise the best cars of the year and to give a voice to women in the automotive world. The voting criteria are based on the same principles that guide any driver when choosing a car. The jurors do not select a ‘woman’s car’ because cars are not gender specific. Aspects such as safety, quality, price, design, ease of driving, benefits and environmental footprint, among others, are considered when casting the votes. However, beyond choosing the best cars of the year, our goal is also to give visibility to women in the automotive world and to contribute to making women’s voices heard on all continents because mobility for a woman means access to many personal and professional possibilities. wwcoty.netinfo@wwcoty.net Supported by

Availability of new car models with a manual gearbox down by 57% since 2015

Images are for editorial use only. CarGurus reveals there are just 82 models available with a manual gearbox from the UK’s top manufacturersi in 2025, versus 192 in 2015 Choice of manual cars continues to decline each year, with an 8% drop in 2025 compared to 2024 and a 58% decrease from the peak in 2018 This year, manuals account for only 29% of new model offerings from Britain’s top-selling brands (82 out of 278 available options) Six of the top brands no longer offer a manual option at all The used car market continues to offer a wide selection of manual options, with CarGurus sharing a guide to the best manual cars in 2025 The number of new cars available to UK motorists with a manual gearbox is at its lowest in 10 years, marking a 57% decline from 2015. New research from CarGurus — a leading automotive marketplace in the U.K. to shop, buy, and sell used vehicles — has revealed that in 2025 there are just 82 new models available with a manual transmission across the UK’s most popular manufacturersi, compared to 192 in 2015. Compared to 2024, available options decreased by 8%, from 89, and are down 25% from 2023 when there were 109 models to choose from. CarGurus also analysed the number of automatic-only models from the top 30 manufacturers, of which there are 196. As such, models available with a manual transmission make up just 29% of options from the country’s top-selling automakers. The number of manufacturers that do not offer manual transmissions across their model range has also increased year-over-year, from five in 2024 compared to six in 2025. Land Rover and MINI shifted in 2025 after having just one model each with a manual in 2024. Manufacturers that do not provide an option for manual gearboxes in their new models include: Mercedes-Benz, Land Rover, Volvo, Tesla, MINI and Lexus. Jaguar did not have applicable models for this year’s study due to its decision to pause the sale of new cars until its planned 2026 relaunch; however, the brand did not include manual options in 2024 and has announced the intent to go all-electric. These figures mark a stark contrast to just a decade ago, when manual gearboxes were a common feature. Research conducted in 2024 by CarGurus on driver preferences for analogue vs. technological features in cars found that only 28% of the 2,000 people surveyed would miss manual gearboxes and 28% would miss clutch pedals. When comparing age groups, those over 65 were most likely to miss manual gearboxes (35%), compared to 26% of 18- to 24-year-olds, and 22% of those aged 25 to 34. These findings underline the decreasing demand for manual transmissions, leading to less customer choice in the new-car market. At the current rate of decline, CarGurus predicts that there will likely be no manual gearbox offerings available on new models by 2037 (based on a rate of 7 models a year, the decrease from 2024 to 2025). Further to this expectation is the fact that many new entrants to the U.K. auto market exclusively produce cars with automatic gearboxes. Emerging brands, such as Polestar, BYD, and Leapmotor, have not yet made the list of the nation’s top manufacturers analysed in this study but are steadily taking on greater market share. Chris Knapman, CarGurus U.K. Editorial Director, said: “With an increasing number of new cars being fully electric, and the market’s general push to larger and more premium vehicles, it is no great surprise to see the decline of the manual gearbox continuing in the 12 months since we last conducted this study. Increasingly, an automatic gearbox is no longer a luxury that buyers must pay extra for, but an expected standard feature. “There is some good news for those who do still value the additional layer of interaction that comes with a manual gearbox, however. Drivers can still buy a new car with a truly great gear-change like the Honda Civic Type R and Mazda MX-5. Or, of course, they can look to the used market, where manuals are in plentiful supply.” On the CarGurus platform, there are a host of used examples of manual options. In an analysis of current listings available to shoppers, 47% are manual and 53% are automatic. For motorists who still prefer a manual transmission, CarGurus has published a guide to the best manual cars in 2025. Simpson & Partners expresses concern over similarities between its charger designs and Andersen EV’s Quartz

Images are for editorial use only. Simpson & Partners, creators of an award-winning range of electric vehicle (EV) chargers known for blending timeless British craftsmanship with intuitive, modern technology, has noted strong similarities between the design of its chargers and the recently launched “Quartz” product from Andersen EV. The observation follows comments and feedback from customers, designers and industry professionals, who have drawn attention to significant visual and material similarities between Simpson & Partners’ flagship products and the Quartz range. These design choices encompassing proportion, form, angles, and surface detailing create a striking resemblance that has led to confusion among customers. Many assume Simpson & Partners has licensed its product to Andersen EV, which is not the case. Simpson & Partners has been designing and manufacturing premium EV chargers since 2020, with its distinctive design language becoming publicly recognisable from 2022 onward. The company believes the similarities merit further examination and is currently exploring its position with respect to design rights and intellectual property protections under UK law. “We welcome fair competition and innovation in the EV charging space,” said David Simpson, COO of Simpson & Partners. “However, the level of overlap we’re seeing raises concerns. “Our designs reflect years of development, not just in terms of function but in the unique, architecturally inspired aesthetic that we have become known for.” Simpson & Partners’ chargers are often specified by architects and designers due to their thoughtful integration into a wide range of British homes, from period properties to contemporary builds. Get into pole position: new motorsport communicators masterclass announced MICA has added a third 2025 Masterclass to its professional development and networking calendar, based around motorsport communications and hosted by Hagerty at Bicester Motion in June. The day will offer insights into promoting diversity, generating great content, managing digital sales and marketing, and leveraging motorsport sponsorships and partnerships (see below). Our two other Masterclasses – offering views on the value of brand heritage in communications, and looking forwards to investigate the skills needed by communications leaders in 2035 – are booking fast. No surprise given the topics and venues: Bentley’s global HQ, in Cheshire, and newly announced Brooklands Museum, Surrey. Read on to reserve your places. Don’t forget, MICA membership offers invitations to exclusive social and networking at sought-after venues. While our group attending on April 27 is full, look out for news of member places for the next Bicester Scramble on October 6. Our second money-can’t-buy invitation – courtesy of the Goodwood Estate and Ferrari SpA – is to the Festival of Speed’s industry day on July 10. Scroll down to find out how to join us. Motorsport masterclass: how to activate sponsorships, communications and partnerships At Hagerty Clubhouse, Bicester Motion, Oxfordshire, June 27Join us for a dynamic Masterclass where the worlds of motorsport, media, and marketing come together. Hosted by Hagerty, we will learn how motorsport is evolving as both an entertainment and technology platform that can help tell your brand’s stories. From F1 to national racing, motorsport is reaching more diverse audiences. The Masterclass will demonstrate why this matters to automotive brands. Attendees will also learn from case studies why motorsport is the perfect platform to demonstrate and communicate sustainable technology that cascades into the wider automotive industry. Those planning to offer insights include Henry Catchpole (Hagerty’s YouTube channel host), Charlie Martin (racing driver and LGBTQ+ campaigner), Mike Scudamore (MD of Apex Sports Marketing and Team Principal, Team BRIT), Charlotte Mackenzie (Motorsport UK) and Nick Trott (ex-Evo editor and founder 27Works). More names are to be confirmed. With influential voices and real-world insights, this is a day designed to inspire and connect MICA members with the changing world of motorsport. Set aside June 27 to join us and mail info@mica.org.uk with “Motorsport Masterclass” as the subject to be kept informed. MICA at Goodwood Festival of Speed with Ferrari At Goodwood Estate, Sussex, July 10 Goodwood’s Festival of Speed offers cars, stars and motorsport royalty at the largest event of its kind. MICA is a offering members-only prize draw for an exclusive experience, with admission generously donated by the Goodwood Estate on industry day ahead of the weekend crowds, and all-day access with refreshment at the Ferrari Pavilion. A visit to the stand of another MICA-supporting brand is also being arranged. This member-only opportunity for three pairs of tickets, will enable six guests to be hosted by MICA and Ferrari and to take away new industry knowledge and contacts. Given the level and value of corporate access offered, it is preferred that a colleague or other automotive contact is the member’s guest, rather than a family member or friend. To be included in the draw, members need to register their interest by mailing info@mica.org.uk with the subject line “Festival of Speed”. The draw will take place at 5pm on June 1, our three winners will contacted by June 7. To be eligible, candidates must be MICA members and to have registered their interest by 12 noon on June 1. As well as hosts Bentley and Polestar joining, MICA will announce further brands offering views and experiences of heritage themes, and their value and resonance with their target audiences: from those steeped in history to those who are making an impact in the 2020s, not 1920s! To register your interest click Heritage Masterclass Skills masterclass: the must-have talents of an auto CCO by 2035 Brooklands Museum secured as venue, November 13 Hard on the heels of Ennis & Co Group’s Drivers of Change initiative with Autocar and Bentley, the automotive skills and recruitment specialists were announced as MICA partners to define the skills of a successful Chief Communications Officer in the 2030s. Just as Drivers of Change champions diverse talent in our industry, the 2035 CCO will hold more diverse skills, broader strategy and technology experience than today’s leaders. As well as hearing from Ennis & Co CEO Lynda Ennis on what future talent will look like and need, another presenter on the panel will be Bauer Media’s Tim Pollard. Previously the publisher’s Editorial Director for eight years, Tim was this year promoted to Director of Digital Content and will outline the future media landscape to be navigated. Heavily involved in the digital rewiring of Bauer Media, Tim is masterminding the work patterns of tomorrow’s journalists, the professional deployment of AI at Britain’s biggest magazine publisher and its smarter use of data in storytelling. Brooklands Museum as hosts will share its own exciting vision for the future, including 2026 centenary celebrations of the first British Grand Prix at Brooklands’ circuit in August 1926. The Alpine Silhouette – Episode 2

Images are for editorial use only. Second episode in new video series released Series will explore the history of Alpine, as it celebrates its 70th anniversary New episodes will be released in the coming months Launched in March to celebrate the creation of the brand in 1955, the ‘Alpine 70 years’ series devotes its second episode to design. Laurens van den Acker, Renault Group’s Chief Design Officer, and Antony Villain, VP Alpine Design, look back at the stylistic inspirations that have guided the brand’s rebirth, as well as its projection into the future through the models of the Dream Garage. The two designers welcomed us to the Alpine Design Studio to talk about the commando state of mind that has shaped the rebirth of the brand while respecting the style initiated in the days of Jean Rédélé. They also explain how electric technology offers interesting opportunities in terms of design, and how the Alpenglow concept car embodies the stylistic intentions of future models. ‘I didn’t approach this brand with nostalgia. I approached it as an enthusiast. I said to myself, this is a fantastic brand and there’s everything to do with it.’Antony Villain, VP Alpine Design Since the start of the brand under the leadership of Jean Rédélé, one element has remained unchanged: the logo. Considered as a quintessential symbol of movement and speed, the arrowed A created by Philippe Charles in the 1960s is still with us today. Its longevity is representative of Alpine’s ability to renew itself without betraying its identity or its values of performance, innovation and French know-how. “Creating a brand is the most exciting adventure in a designer’s career. Today, we’ve embarked on the next stage; extending the brand from one to 6 or 7 cars. So we have to give life and shape to this brand. It’s like a growing tree, spreading out its branches, and we have to make sure that each model has meaning and contributes to the history of the brand.”Laurens van den Acker, Chief Design Officer, Renault Group Episode 2 – The Alpine Silhouette is available to download now.
