Hosting a contingent of international journalists at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, members of Norton’s senior leadership team – Sudarshan Venu, Dr Robert Hentschel and Richard Arnold – shared the vision of the brand and discussed how Norton is now perfectly placed to expand globally. As part of this, Norton is preparing for international expansion with an initial focus on the USA, Germany, France, Italy and India. At the renowned Goodwood Festival of Speed, Sudarshan Venu outlined the expansion of Norton Motorcycles’ senior leadership team, as well as the investment in the company. Most recently, these appointments included Richard Arnold, Norton Executive Director and former CEO of Manchester United Football Club. Bringing together the right people has put Norton in the best position to capitalise on its growth. Insight into the development and engineering behind the current and upcoming Norton models was then provided by Dr Robert Hentschel, Chief Executive Officer of Norton Motorcycles, detailing TVS Motor’s input into the design and drivability of Norton’s products. As a result of TVS’s investment and support, Norton’s revitalised research and development has been channelled into its product pipeline through its state-of-the-art facility in Solihull. Testament to this is the One of One V4SV, inspired by Steve Hislop’s ‘White Charger’ that sped up the Goodwood Hillclimb every day of the festival. Launching 30 years after the first Audi A4, the sharpened design language of the latest generation, now called the Audi A5, captivates with striking proportions. Both body styles, Saloon and Avant, perfectly embody the sporty essence of Audi’s design philosophy. A new interior design language creates a feeling of space and places the displays on a digital stage. The new operating concept increases interaction with the vehicle. Efficient, partially electrified combustion engines and thrilling S models round off the range. With the expansion of its model range, AUDI AG has restructured the naming of its vehicles since 2024. The numbers in the names of electric and combustion-engine models are the differentiators. Going forward, even numbers stand for electrically powered models, odd numbers for vehicles with combustion engines. With the debut of the latest generation, the Audi A4, a long-standing bestseller, will be called the Audi A5 and will be produced in Neckarsulm. The new user experience based on the 1.2 version of the E³ electronic architecture matches this aspiration. Dynamic and muscular exterior design Even at first glance, the completely redesigned A5 family has a powerful and clean design. The modified proportions with a long wheelbase, large wheels and the low, sporty body embody progressive dynamism and premium standards. In the Saloon, the sporty, compact-looking greenhouse stretches to the rear in a sweeping arc, flows seamlessly into the shallow rear window in a coupé-like manner, and ends at the visually short tailgate with a striking spoiler lip. The rear hatch, which is new in this vehicle segment, offers a convincing symbiosis of design and functionality. It opens with the rear window and its size makes access to the luggage compartment considerably easier. This results in a completely new Saloon concept for Audi. In the Avant, the dynamic, taut roofline merges into a seamlessly integrated roof spoiler that spans the sporty, flat rear window. The D-pillars, which are steeply raked, emphasize the dynamic side view of the A5 Avant. The front is dominated by the wide and significantly flatter proportioned Singleframe with a three-dimensional honeycomb structure. Together with the slim and precisely drawn headlights, it shapes the face of the vehicle and gives it a striking and focused expression. Thanks to the “soft nose” integrated into the bumper, the hood is flush with the front end. The blisters protruding powerfully from the shoulder area at the front and rear wheels are reminiscent of the Audi Ur quattro and a core element of the Audi design DNA. The striking, distinctive rear combines sporty, emotional design and intelligent technology. The three dimensional, offset light strip gives the rear of the new Audi A5 presence and visual dynamism. Further highlights of the rear view in the base models are the clear, modern design of the bumper with a dark diffuser and the high-quality rectangular exhaust tips. New standards in digital light The Audi A5 family offers digital daytime running lights with LED technology at the front and second-generation digital OLED rear lights at the rear (S5 only in UK). With around 60 segments per digital OLED panel, they are increasingly becoming a display at the rear of the vehicle on the S5. This enables car-to-x communication and increases safety on the road – for example with the new communication light. The dynamic lighting effects when unlocking and leaving the vehicle reflect the aesthetics of movement as part of the Audi light DNA. The active digital light signature does so too, conveying a new sense of liveliness. The headlights are three dimensional in look and offer digital light signatures on Edition 1 and S5 models in the UK, while the rear light digital sigatures are available on the S5 only. Technology meets comfort in the new interior The design of the interior of the new Audi A5 is based on four characteristic features. Firstly, the interior has a human-centric design, i.e., it is consistently geared towards the needs of its users. The second special feature is the Digital Stage that establishes itself in clear view of the driver and front passenger in the form of the Audi MMI displays. With its Material Driven Design, the Audi A5 meets the requirement for a generous sense of space with a high level of comfort. The clear layout and easy operation of the interior provide an overview in all situations to form the fourth feature: Visual Clarity. Recently restored Audi Quattro press car heads to auction

Car was one of only four UK press cars Car featured in Fast Lane magazine twin test alongside a Lancia Delta Integrale Recent work includes both cosmetic and mechanical overhaul One of the most iconic and influential cars of the 80s, a 1989 Audi UR Quattro 2.2 Turbo RR 20V, with genuine pedigree and provenance, is set to be one of the star attractions at H&H Classics’ next classic car auction on 24 July. Having recently undergone a thorough mechanical and cosmetic overhaul during the last five years, the car was one of four UK press cars and is expected to fetch between £40,000-45,000. “Largely thanks to their motorsport success and technological advances, Audi Quattros are widely admired and still in high demand by performance enthusiasts around the world,” comments Lucas Gomersall, motor car specialist, H&H Classics. “However, with replacement parts now difficult to acquire, few examples exist today in such good condition as this particular version. Furthermore, with its factory press car heritage, this really is a rare opportunity to own a true 80s icon.” Identifiable as one of the four UK press cars by their consecutive registration plates, this example featured in a head-to-head test alongside a Lancia Delta Integrale in the February 1990 issue of Fast Lane magazine. After driving the car the journalist remarked, “On the move, the 20V Quattro is nothing short of astonishing; it offers breathtaking performance… In short, you simply never get held up for long in this car, even on England’s overcrowded roads.” The car comes to the sale having had much expenditure in the hands of its enthusiastic owner. As part of its rejuvenation, a pair of donor Audi Coupes were bought and used as a source of replacement parts, as well as another RR 20v Quattro for its engine. Since being bought by the vendor in 2017 the replacement engine has been fitted with a Turbo Dynamics MD147KKK turbocharger, three-nozzle injectors and a Scorpion exhaust, the result being an estimated 300 bhp. Handling the power is a new clutch and with the increase in ‘go’ the ‘whoa’ has also been upgraded, courtesy of Brembo callipers to the front wheels. Aside from the mechanical improvements, the car’s bodywork has also received much attention, including a new pair of front wings and a re-paint back to its original and iconic Tornado Red colour, following a colour change to black by a previous owner. “This car will undoubtedly make a great addition to any collection of 1980s performance models so we expect there to be much interest when it is offered on 24 July,” concludes Gomersall. Quattro fans can view and inspect the car in person from midday on 23 July at the Pavilion Gardens, Buxton, ahead of the sale which commences at 1pm the following day. The survey of 1,000 UK parents highlights the key concerns for families today. Farnham, UK – [16 July 2024] – Protean Electric (Protean), a world leader of in-wheel motor (IWM) technology for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles (LCVs), and future transport solutions, announces the production launch of its ProteanDrive Generation 5 (‘Gen 5’) IWM. Protean’s new generation of IWM offers an industrialised product with enhanced performance, scalability and affordability, marking a significant advancement in the field. After seeing its offering prove popular and receive positive customer feedback, Kwik Fit is now enabling motorists to get a quote and purchase cover via Kwik-Fit.com Insurance features include cover for misfuelling and lost, stolen or accidentally damaged keys. Policyholders will have their no claims discount protected when hit by an uninsured driver (provided details of the other car and driver are collected), experience deliberate damage or vandalism to their vehicle, or need windscreen repair or replacement when using an approved repairer. Short European trips (up to three days) will be covered as standard, with the option to add cover for a further or extended visit. Optional additional features available to policyholders include three levels of breakdown cover, legal expenses and enhanced courtesy car cover.
