The winners of the 2024 Autocar Awards have been revealed. The prestigious Issigonis Trophy was awarded to Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault Group. De Meo has played a pivotal role in shaping an exciting future for Renault while demonstrating exceptional leadership within the European automotive industry.

De Meo started his career at Renault before moving on to Toyota, Fiat, Volkswagen and Seat. Returning to Renault in 2020, he committed to decarbonisation efforts and revitalised financial competitiveness by expanding its range significantly. Notably leading the revival of the iconic 5 supermini as an EV helped him secure top rankings last year with record profits.

Marek Reichman from Aston Martin received the Sturmey Award for innovation over ten years working on groundbreaking models like DB11 and Vulcan. Meanwhile, David Moss from Nissan won the Mundy Award for Engineering excellence.

Martin Brundle took home the Editor’s Award for his engaging F1 coverage; Andreas Mindt from Volkswagen was honored as Design Hero for reinventing VW’s styling towards electrification.

Catesby Tunnel earned recognition with Autocar’s Innovation award while Mini’s Stefanie Wurst bagged Outstanding Leader accolade. Toyota clinched Britain’s Best Manufacturer title.

This year’s best cars include:– Small Car: Renault Clio, – Driver’s Car: Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, – Electric Car: Cupra Born.– Large Car: Kia EV9 (Best Performance): Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, (Hybrid): BMW 5 Series, (Saloon): VW ID7,& (Dream car) :Ford Mustang.
