  • Volkswagen’s Multivan retained ‘Large Family Towcar’ title for the third year in a row
  • Awards are judged by an independent panel of expert reviewers

Milton Keynes, UK (23 September, 2024) – Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles had a successful visit to the 2025 Towcar of the Year Awards, with the Amarok voted best ‘Pick-up’ and the Volkswagen Multivan retaining the ‘Large Family Towcar’ title for a third consecutive year.

The awards, now in their 42nd year, are judged by an independent panel of expert reviewers, awarding only the very best in their respective categories after putting thirty-three entrants to the towcar test.

Taking home the ‘Large Family Towcar’ award for the third year in a row, the Multivan was praised for its spacious and configurable interior, comfortable drive, and car-like manouevrability which makes towing and reversing easy.

Caravan and Motorhome Club said: “This is the third year running that the Multivan has walked off with a Large Family Towcar category win, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a great vehicle, being easy to drive and park, well-mannered on different road types and simply enormous inside. The interior can be configured in various ways, boosting flexibility too. The 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel is a good engine. If you need space, the Mulitivan can’t be beaten.

Alongside this, the Amarok was crowned winner of the ‘Pick-up’ category, after judges were won over by its impressive versatility, providing a functional, hard-working vehicle during the week, and a comfortable towcar for the weekend. With strong towing capabilities of up to 3.5 tonnes, the Amarok is designed to facilitate work and recreational requirements, both on and off-road.

Commenting on the award, Caravan and Motorhome Club said: “Its upmarket looks are matched to an equally upmarket interior, which shows pick-ups don’t have to be unrefined and agricultural. It has good on-road manners, is hugely capable off-road, and tows with serious competency. The 3.0-litre V6 diesel is punchy, and the ride is decent when hitched.”
