ZOOZ POWER Ltd Expands Ultra-Fast EV Charging with Second Installation on Cross-Israel Highway

25.06.2024
  • ZOOZ Power has deployed its flywheel-based power boosting and management solution at a second site on Route 6, the Cross-Israel Highway, in collaboration with Dor-Alon and AfconEV. This follows their initial installation in May 2024.
  • The system uses stored kinetic energy from flywheels along with energy management software to enhance grid power, optimizing charging infrastructure utilization.
  • The two installations more than double the potential ultrafast charging capacity at each location without requiring grid upgrades.
  • This marks the first time that four 150kW ultra-fast chargers are available with only a 300kW grid connection (previously limited to one 150kW and two 100kW chargers) at one site. At another site, three 150kW chargers are now operational with just a 200kW grid connection (previously limited to one 150kW and one 50kW charger).
  • This installation highlights ZOOZ Power’s capability to enable ultra-fast EV charging while maximizing revenue for CPOs without needing significant grid investments.

Tel-Aviv, June 24th, 2024 – ZOOZ POWER Ltd. (NASDAQ and TASE: ZOOZ), an innovator in flywheel-based power boosters for ultra-fast EV charging, announced today that its advanced power boosting solution is now operational at a second Dor-Alon station on Route 6. This follows their first deployment in May of this year.

These new installations result from a partnership between ZOOZ Power, Dor-Alon—a major gas station network operator—and Afcon Electric Transportation—an established charge point operator (CPO) in Israel.

The system by ZOOZ Power dynamically manages charging using stored kinetic energy to supplement limited grid supply. This maximizes infrastructure use without costly upgrades and increases revenue opportunities for site owners.

These sites are pioneering examples where four ultra-fast chargers of up to 150 kW each operate efficiently using only a single-site’s existing lower-capacity grid connections. They meet growing demands for rapid EV charging along Israel’s busiest routes without necessitating expensive electrical upgrades.

Avi Cohen, Executive Chairman of ZOOZ Power stated:
“Our latest venture with Dor-Alon and AfconEV heralds a new era of ultra-fast EV charging services. By leveraging intelligent energy management within constrained grids, we significantly boost revenues while facilitating profitable rollouts of ultrafast chargers—achievements previously unattainable without substantial upfront investments.”
