Safe and Secure Smart Mobility Parking Network Bulgaria 2.0

About the project The project Safe and Secure Smart Mobility Parking Network Bulgaria 2.0 (24-BG-TC-SSSMTPNBULGARIA 2) aims to develop six Safe and Secure Parking Areas (SSPAs).   The project includes both the construction of entirely new facilities (greenfield) and the expansion of existing ones (brownfield). The parking areas will be located along key sections of the core network of the TEN-T Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea (BBA) corridor, thereby improving the efficiency, safety, and security of the European transport network and international traffic. The total capacity of the parking areas will be 816 parking spaces for heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), contributing to a safer, more modern, and more efficient transport infrastructure. SSPA locations and capacity   Vidin – 300 parking spaces, Platinum level Ihtiman – 150 parking spaces, Platinum level (new construction) Nova Zagora – 95 parking spaces, Gold level Struma, Phase II – 41 parking spaces, Platinum level (new construction) Plovdiv – 110 parking spaces, Gold level Chirpan – 120 parking spaces, Gold level The new facilities will support the development of a strong trans-European transport network along the Western Balkans – Eastern Mediterranean (WBEM TEN-T) and Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea corridors. These will be the first facilities of this kind in Bulgaria to be certified at Platinum and Gold levels in accordance with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012, guaranteeing high standards of safety, security, and services for professional drivers.

European Digital Innovation Hub – Northwest Automotive Cluster Bulgaria

About the project EDIH-NWACB is a partnership initiative based on the long-term cooperation between its core partners with regional presence and national importance for the Bulgarian automotive sector. The project idea is focused on the development of the innovative infrastructure that will support the manufacturing and automotive industry in Bulgaria in its transition towards the implementation of Industry 4.0 principles. The service portfolio will combine the wide scope of topics that will lead to elevation of the skills of the workforce in the sector, increased capacity for the SMEs and improved standardisation of the processes for a better, more sustainable manufacturing. The innovative infrastructure will allow empirical studies to be carried out, test environments to be generated as well as the ability to train students on the use of digital automation solutions in the industry and practical exercises with cooperative robots, as well as “test before invest” (TBI) with the latest cutting-edge software and hardware.    The final goal is to position EDIH as a trusty and reliability as a key supporter and enhancer of the digitalization of the Automotive industry on a national and EU scale through the provision of various services and events. Safe and Secure Smart Mobility Truck Parking Network Bulgaria

About the project The project will deliver five new Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas (SSTPA) at four different locations, providing a total of 426 parking spaces for Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) in Bulgaria. At one of these locations, the parking area is divided into facilities on both sides of the road, resulting in a total of five sites that will contribute to the development of a strong and efficient transport network within the Western Balkans – Eastern Mediterranean (WBEM) TEN-T corridor (formerly the Orient/East-Med corridor) and the Baltic Sea – Black Sea – Aegean Sea corridors. The project will be implemented under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme. These first Safe and Secure Truck Parking Areas in Bulgaria will be certified at Platinum and Gold levels in accordance with Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/1012 of 7 April 2022.
