Nick English, the co-founder of Bremont Watches, is announced today as the new Executive Chairman of MOKE International English, who defied convention and scaled a British luxury watch company to unprecedented heights, now joins MOKE, a privately owned British business that has sold over 500 vehicles to date In 2022, MOKE became the first heritage automotive brand to go 100% Electric and is now in talks with strategic partners and investors as it moves into its growth phase London, 26th June 2024: MOKE International (MOKE) can confirm the appointment of Nick English, co-founder of Bremont Watches, as its new Executive Chairman, effective immediately. This strategic leadership change heralds an exciting new chapter for the iconic MOKE brand, which was established in 1964 and is celebrated for its distinctive blend of heritage and innovation. Moving into its growth phase, English joins at a pivotal time as MOKE progresses with strategic partners and investors to pursue further international advancement. Nick English, who famously co-founded Bremont Watches with his brother Giles, brings a wealth of experience in manufacturing and luxury lifestyle brands to MOKE. He remains a board director of Bremont, where he grew the business – that became synonymous with the repatriation and production of luxury mechanical timepieces on British shores – before handing over to new management as part of a strategic investment round, valuing the business at £100m. His vision and expertise will be instrumental in driving MOKE’s expansion and continuing its legacy of delivering exceptional and unique vehicles to freedom fighters in beautiful locations around the globe. Discussing his appointment, Nick English, Executive Chairman, MOKE International said: “I am thrilled to be joining MOKE International at such a pivotal time. The MOKE brand holds a special place in automotive history, and I look forward to working with the talented team to build on its legacy, continue and grow the manufacturing of the cars in the UK, and explore new opportunities for innovation and expansion. Isobel has done a fabulous job homologating the Electric MOKE for use in both USA and EU, and I’m much looking forward to building on that.” As part of this transition, Isobel Dando will be stepping away from her role as CEO, which she held for the past four years. MOKE International extends its heartfelt gratitude to Isobel for her contribution to relaunching the brand. She commented: “Hiring Nick is a real coup for MOKE. I am delighted to be handing over the reins to him; to further build on everything the team have achieved to date. He is passionate about British engineering – be it flying planes, making watches or driving cars – and, as a serial entrepreneur, I believe he has exactly what we need to further develop the business.” MOKE has raised $35m of investment to date, which it has deployed to reshore production to the UK, secure its trademark, and engineer and homologate the Electric MOKE in both the USA and Europe. It was the first electric vehicle with no roof or doors to achieve M1 Small Series approval in Europe and the first to be granted NHTSA and EPA approval in the US through the Low Volume Vehicle Manufacturers Act. The Electric MOKE is predominantly made of European parts and is manufactured in the UK. The success of MOKE attracted a bid for the business by EV Technology Group in 2022 in a deal valuing the shares at up to $120m, however MOKE International retained its independence and the proposed merger with Fablink, the manufacturing business, never materialised. With a waiting list of circa 800 orders worth over $25m, MOKE International and its board are excited about ramping up, and vertically integrating production in the UK. Autocar Awards honour Volkswagen ID.7 and the brand’s design chief Andreas Mindt

Electric ID.7 named Best Saloon at 2024 Autocar Awards Judges describe the ID.7 as ‘subtle, restrained and classy’ Design Hero award for Andreas Mindt recognises 31-year career and the German’s instant impact when he returned to Volkswagen Milton Keynes – Volkswagen is celebrating two outstanding wins at the 2024 Autocar Awards: the ID.7 was named Best Saloon and the company’s Head of Design, Andreas Mindt, was honoured with the magazine’s prestigious Design Hero award. The ID.7 was praised for possessing no obvious weaknesses and offering a quiet confidence that is so often synonymous with Volkswagen cars. “This big electric car begs to be underestimated; it is subtle, restrained and – dare we say it – classy,” said the judges. “This is an electric saloon that makes few, if any, demands of its driver, combining superb road manners with intuitive driveability that makes any journey a cinch. It really is excellent.” The award for Andreas Mindt was a reflection of the German design maestro’s immediate impact since he re-joined the brand in 2023, and for a 31-year career that has spawned modern-day classics including the Volkswagen Golf Mk VII, the Audi e-tron GT – while spearheading a realignment of the brand’s exterior design – and the limited-run Bentley Batur, which helped chart the brand’s future electric models. Mark Tisshaw, Autocar Editor, said: “Andreas Mindt is sparking fresh life into one of the world’s biggest car brands. Upon his return to Wolfsburg in February 2023 he had just weeks to pen the ID. 2all, a machine that neatly balanced modern design with retro flourishes and was incredibly well received. The concept was upbeat, friendly and infectiously enthusiastic – much like the man who led its design. “Andreas has had an immediate impact upon his return and Volkswagen cars are embracing the brand’s traditions without getting stuck in the past – which is why we have named him our Design Hero for 2024.” After collecting his award, Andreas said: “I am deeply honoured to receive the Design Hero award. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Together, we found a way to design the true Volkswagen, which is characterised by our design values: Stable, Likeable, and Secret Sauce. Our commitment to excellence and our passion for creating vehicles that resonate with our customers have driven us to achieve this milestone.” One of the biggest events on the automotive calendar, the Autocar Awards recognise the industry’s highest achievers, including heroes from the design, engineering and motorsport worlds, as well as the best cars people can buy in the UK in a wide variety of categories. Commenting on the awards, Volkswagen UK Director Rod McLeod said: “We are very pleased that Autocar – the world’s oldest, and one of the most respected, motoring titles – has presented Volkswagen and Andreas Mindt with these awards. “The ID.7 is our top-of-the-range electric car and encompasses everything that people love about Volkswagen. It offers luxury with engineering excellence and appealing everyday practicality, and it is leading the charge towards e-mobility. It is also fantastic news that Andreas has won the Design Hero award, which is so richly deserved.” (ends) About the Volkswagen brand:A total of 162,087 new Volkswagen passenger vehicles were registered in the UK in 2023, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). This equated to a market share of 8.52 per cent – an increase of 0.35 per cent compared with the previous year – and made Volkswagen the UK’s best-selling new-car brand for the third year running. The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has a global presence, producing vehicles at 29 locations in 12 countries, and employs approximately 170,000 people. In 2023, Volkswagen delivered around 4.87 million vehicles worldwide. These included bestsellers such as the Polo, T-Roc, T-Cross, Golf, Tiguan and Passat, as well as the successful all-electric ID. models. Volkswagen handed over about 394,000 all-electric vehicles to customers worldwide in 2023 and, with its ACCELERATE strategy, is consistently advancing its ambition to become the most desirable brand for sustainable mobility. Hyundai IONIQ 5 N named Best Performance Car at Autocar Awards 2024

Electric hot Hyundai picks up top honour from the experts at Autocar Judges hail N model as a game changer that is “huge fun to drive” Award follows a string of accolades throughout 2024 for EV trailblazer IONIQ 5 N is available to order from £65,000 Leatherhead, June 26th 2024 – Serial winner the Hyundai IONIQ 5N has claimed yet another high-profile honour by being named Best Performance Car in the 2024 Autocar Awards. The prestigious awards are held annually by the world’s oldest motoring magazine and recognise the very best cars on sale today in a variety of key areas of the market. The ground-breaking IONIQ 5 N was up against a number of traditional internal combustion models from established high-performance brands, as well as an array of ultra-powerful electrified cars, but won over the expert judging panel thanks to the sheer enjoyment it delivers for drivers. Mark Tisshaw, Autocar Editor, said: “The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N changes the game for performance cars and for electric vehicles as a car that is huge fun to drive on the road and track. Instant electric power joins forces with a very cleverly tuned rear differential to make it more interactive than many lighter ICE powered cars, and it feels completely natural from behind the wheel, and not intimidating at all. “But as well as being absorbing and engaging when you want to have fun, its completeness makes it a car that you want to drive as often as you possibly can. It is genuinely comfortable, has truly usable range and benefits from the same rapid charging as the IONIQ 5. It’s a revelation.” The high-performance model is based on the same Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the standard IONIQ 5 – the 2022 World Car of the Year – and integrates the motorsport-bred technologies and expertise of Hyundai’s N division to take driving enjoyment to a new level. Among a host of key technical advances is a powertrain which delivers greater power output and enhanced performance in battery cooling and braking. The IONIQ 5 N’s electric motors spin up to 21,000 RPM, providing up to 609 PS in normal conditions, or 650 PS when the car’s N Grin Boost (NGB) feature is engaged, maximising acceleration for up to 10 seconds. 0-62mph is achievable in 3.4 seconds, while a top speed of 161mph is attainable on tracks. Other upgrades include a strengthened steering column for improved feedback, Electronic Controlled Suspension that adapts suspension stiffness according to the drive mode, and a suite of sophisticated electronic control technology in the E-GMP platform. Highlights include N Pedal, an intelligent software function that provides instant turn-in and enhanced throttle sensitivity for exhilarating cornering, and fully variable front and rear N Torque Distribution. The IONIQ 5 N also sets a new benchmark in terms of emotional engagement for a performance EV, courtesy of N e-shift, which simulates the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission of internal combustion engine N cars, while the addictive soundtrack comes via innovative N Active Sound+ technology. N e-shift and N Active Sound+ were praised by Autocar, with Mark Tisshaw adding: “There are a lot of settings menus to experiment with, and the IONIQ 5 lets you tailor the driving experience to your driving preferences. Within reason, it can be whatever you want it to be.” The recognition from Autocar is the latest in a series of accolades for the IONIQ 5 N, including being crowned 2024 World Performance Car in the World Car Awards. In December it was named TopGear.com’s overall 2023 Car of the Year, following that up in May as Best EV Hot Hatch in the TopGear.com Electric Awards. In the same month, CAR hailed it as the world’s best electric performance car following a definitive seven-car test, while earlier in June it won Auto Trader’s Rory Reid Award as the finest model tested by the presenter over the past year. The IONIQ 5 N has also made history at the Nürburgring, where it recorded the fastest electric SUV lap time with Germany’s Sport Auto. Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, said: “The awards just keep on coming for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, a car we have consistently described as a game changer for electrified performance. It is pleasing to see that the experts at Autocar agree, and also recognise that as well as being a great car to drive, the IONIQ 5 is comfortable and extremely user friendly, making it an exceptional ownership proposition.” For more information on the IONIQ 5 N, which is available to order from £65,000, visit www.hyundai.co.uk

Iconic 1957 Ferrari 335 S entered into Salon Privé Concours 2024 by American collector

Salon Privé Concours 2024 at Blenheim Palace sees a highly storied 1957 Ferrari 335 S entered by an American collector Chassis #0674 has been driven by Stirling Moss, Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorn, Wolfgang von Trips and others Used as reference for ‘Ferrari’ film by Michael Mann Salon Privé Concours 2024 at Blenheim Palace to be held on 28-31 August 19th year of Salon Privé in 2024: ‘The UK’s most exclusive automotive garden party’ Salon Privé Concours presented by Aviva runs on 28-31 August 2024. Tickets available at https://www.salonpriveconcours.com/ An American collector is entering a highly storied, world-famous 1957 Ferrari 335 S into this summer’s Salon Privé Concours at Blenheim Palace, to be held on 28-31 August. Chassis number ‘0674’ had a rich racing career and was driven by stars of 1950s motorsport, before spending more than 40 years as part of famed Ferrari collector Pierre Bardinon’s collection. Salon Privé Concours guests will now have a rare chance to see this remarkable car up close. Acknowledged by many as one of the greatest Ferraris ever, the 335 S starred in the epic 1957 World Sports Car Championship, pipped against fellow front-engined lightweight aluminium-bodied two-seater cars with unlimited engine sizes. What marks the 335 S out is its exceptional four-cam engine, Ferrari’s first. The V12 Tipo 130 block gained new heads with two camshafts per bank, and a remarkable 24 spark plugs, 12 for each 60-degrree vee. As was often the case in 1950s motorsport, this famed Ferrari started out as a 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti, with chassis number ‘0626’. The right-hand drive racer was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1956 Mille Miglia, where it finished fourth. Finished in red with a nose band in Argentine colours, it then finished third in the Nurburgring 1000km, driven by Phil Hill and Ken Wharton. It also later came second in the Swedish GP, driven by the iconic German racer Wolfgang von Trips. The car was converted to a 315 S Barchetta after the Swedish GP, with a 3.8-litre version of the new engine. The chassis, now renumbered ‘0674’, was developed from 1956’s Type 520, with voluptuous bodywork crafted by Scaglietti. Suspension was quite sophisticated, although Ferrari persisted with drum brakes, rather than the latest trend for discs. It first raced in 315 S guise in the 1957 Sebring 12 Hours, with drivers Peter Collins and Maurice Trintignant setting the pace early on and eventually finishing sixth, behind the dominant Maseratis. Wolfgang von Trips then took it over for the Mille Miglia, where he finished second in what was to be the final Mille Miglia, following a tragic mid-race accident. For the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the car was uprated again, to its current 335 S guise. Mike Hawthorn and Luigi Musso raced, and set a ferocious pace early on, although the car didn’t finish due to an engine problem. It did take a creditable fourth place in the Swedish GP on 11 August though, again driven by Hawthorn and Musso. Later in the year, the car was modified by Scaglietti to a ‘pontoon’ style, in order to improve brake cooling for the season finale in sweltering Caracas. Ferrari duly finished 1-2-3-4 in the race, with ‘0674’ driven by Hawthorn and Luigi Musso following home the winning duo of Peter Collins and Phil Hill. ‘0674’ was then sold to Luigi Chinetti’s NART operation, and was entered for the famous Cuban Grand Prix best known for Juan Manuel Fangio’s kidnapping. With Stirling Moss and Masten Gregory behind the wheel, the 335 S won the Havana event. Chinetti then repainted it in NART’s legendary blue with a white stripe, and it was later acquired by Mike Garber to race in SCCA events, where a highlight included a win in the Road America 500. After two seasons of competition, the 335 S was by now looking rather race-worn. Garber sold the car to Robert Duesk, known for saving many famous Ferraris, who soon approached noted French collector Pierre Bardinon. Discussions continued for many years, before Bardinon finally agreed to purchase the car in 1970. Once the Ferrari arrived in France, Bardinon’s team began researching it to inform a restoration. It was sent to Carrozzeria Fantuzzi in Modena, where the ‘pontoon’ nose was changed back to the original (the original was retained for display), and the bodywork repainted red. It was then regularly used on the private track Bardinon had built in the grounds of his home. While it rarely left the gates of his private museum, it was still often driven, and also showcased to invited enthusiasts and clubs. The current owner, an American collector, acquired the car at the 2005 Artcurial Retromobil Auction, for nearly £25 million. Described as a Ferrari with a most significant race history, this iconic model has since been showcased at many blue riband events, including Finali Mondiali Daytona and the Ferrari Classiche Concours. In a noteworthy extra piece of provenance, this Ferrari 335 S was meticulously examined prior to filming the new Michael Mann epic, ‘Ferrari’. This focused on the 1957 season that ‘0674’ starred in, with particular focus on the Mille Miglia race in which it finished second. The production team built replicas for the film shoot based on the inspection of this car – securing its place in movie history too! “I’m thrilled this exceptional Ferrari is to join us at Salon Privé Concours this summer,” said Concours Chairman Andrew Bagley. “It has a truly remarkable history, piloted by some of the most iconic racing drivers in the world, and the period records and images that abound for this car justify its status as one of the greatest Ferraris ever built. All-wheel drive R models now with sharper design, DCC adaptive chassis control, upgraded interior and a new infotainment system as standard The optional R-Performance package raises the top speed and includes a larger roof spoiler – and now also a lap timer and G-meter World premiere of the Golf R Black Edition4 as a special exclusive model from Volkswagen R Wolfsburg – The Golf R1 and Golf R Estate2 are on the starting line: Volkswagen presents the two new top-of-the-range Golf models in a world premiere. They come with optimised driving dynamics, exclusive standard equipment and an output of 245 kW (333 PS). The new maximum output has increased by 10 kW (13 PS) compared with the predecessors of these models. The top speed of 250 km/h can be boosted by another 20 km/h to 270 km/h with the optional R-Performance package. This makes these two Golf R versions the world’s fastest Volkswagen production models, alongside the Arteon R Shooting Brake5. Pre-sales start on 3 July in Germany, where the Golf R will be available from €53,7953, and from €55,0653 as an estate (Golf R Estate). An additional option: the Golf R Black Edition, an exclusive all-black model available from €58,4403. All UK prices and specification will be confirmed soon. Sharper design, expanded range of R-specific equipment. The new R models are based on the eighth generation of the Golf, which received a major update this year. The dynamism is reflected in the redesigned front with its LED Plus headlights, an illuminated VW badge and air curtains in the bumper, as well as the new LED tail light clusters. The new 19-inch “Warmenau” forged wheels are available as an optional extra. These have an appealingly clean design, a weight of just eight kilograms per wheel and efficient brake cooling, which is especially advantageous when driving on a racetrack. The infotainment system’s hardware and software have also been revamped and feature the largest display (diagonal: 32.8 cm/10.9 inches)) offered by Volkswagen. Operation has also been significantly improved thanks to new graphics and a fresh menu structure for the touch display. The control of the illuminated touch sliders for the automatic climate control and volume control, as well as the voice assistant IDA, which accesses the AI-based software “ChatGPT” to answer questions, have also been newly developed. Additionally, the responsiveness of the touch steering wheel has been optimised. The Golf R models are equipped with the enhanced Digital Cockpit Pro as standard (display diagonal: 26 cm). In addition to the classic views available in other models in the product line, the Digital Cockpit Pro in the Golf R offers an enhanced Sport Skin, featuring a central round rev counter with an R-specific design, as well as the R-View with a horizontal rpm display. Interior in a class of its own. The interior of the Golf R models is ergonomically tailored to the driver and exclusively refined in the “R” style. The driver and front passenger sit on top sports seats with integrated head restraints. There will again be an optional black nappa leather interior with carbon-look elements with blue applications in the side area and an “R logo” in the seat backrest. Also available as an option: interior applications in real carbon. These equipment details underline how high-quality the exclusive overall concept of the new Golf R has been designed. Golf R – for maximum performance. The new R models have an impressive output of 245 kW (333 PS), which the powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged engine transmits to a seven-speed DSG and the 4MOTION all-wheel drive with R-Performance Torque Vectoring. The latter improves driving stability and agility by distributing the drive power individually to the rear wheels to optimise cornering. The torque of the new models is 420 Nm. The top speed of 250 km/h can be boosted by another 20 km/h to 270 km/h with the optional R-Performance package. R-Performance package – more fun behind the wheel thanks to additional modes. In addition to the higher top speed, the R-Performance package offers two additional modes for motorsport enthusiasts who also drive on roads and tracks away from normal road traffic: Drift and Special. “Special” mode has been specifically adapted to the conditions on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Additional downforce is provided by a larger roof spoiler through which the air flow is routed. The R-Performance package for the new model also includes the GPS lap timer and the G-meter – both of which are displayed in the Digital Cockpit Pro. The Vehicle Dynamics Manager optimises the driving experience. Adaptive chassis control (DCC) – fitted as standard in vehicles sold in Germany – is a technology that continuously reacts to the road surface and driving situation, while taking account of various elements including steering, braking and acceleration manoeuvres. The lateral dynamic components of the DCC running gear are coordinated and further optimised by the Vehicle Dynamics Manager. Consequently, DCC always provides the highest level of driving comfort and optimum driving dynamics. This allows the new R-models to effortlessly strike a balance between everyday driving and sportiness at all times. The Golf R Estate provides a particularly high degree of flexibility: with a maximum luggage compartment volume of 1,642 litres (with folded rear seat backrests), it offers generous stowage space. Exclusive Golf R Black Edition. The exclusive model, which can be ordered directly at market launch, has a sophisticated dark look: with darker VW badges and R logos, black R brake callipers with a dark R logo, black 19-inch Estoril wheels and black tailpipe trims. The darkened IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights are another standard feature. The equipment scope also includes the R-Performance package, which is an optional extra for other models. The Golf R, a success story. Volkswagen R as a premium performance brand has already been offering special models for more than two decades. With their equipment for enhanced performance combined with expressive design, they generate enthusiasm all over the world in Volkswagen fans. The Golf R’s success story began in 2002 with…

VW Golf Mk1 Cabriolet leads new remastered Milltek Classic exhaust range

Premium performance exhaust specialist extends its range of OEM+ systems for modern classic heroes from the 1980s and 1990s, updated with modern technologies Latest products for the Volkswagen Golf Cabriolet Mk1 enhance the aesthetics and soundtrack of the classic convertible, just in time for top-down motoring season Updated Milltek Classic range also includes popular BMW M3 E30 and Peugeot 205 GTI models Milltek is announcing updates to its range of enhanced ‘Milltek Classic’ exhaust systems this week, led by a new OEM+ design for Volkswagen’s first-generation Golf Cabriolet. Arriving just in time for the season of roof-down motoring, the latest Milltek Classic offering is available in resonated or louder non-resonated specification, with each option promising to subtly enhance the standard engine note of the iconic eighties drop-top while remaining faithful to the original factory exhaust tip style. The Milltek Classic range includes many popular designs from the company’s 40-year history, with each new product extensively updated and re-engineered using the latest technology and manufacturing processes. All Milltek Classic applications are designed as ‘OEM+’, and promise to enhance performance, quality, durability and sound, alongside improved material quality, silencer design, and acoustics. All Milltek Classic systems benefit from the company’s renowned, extensive R&D process – each new development begins with the original ‘OEM’ exhaust system, with engineers identifying weaknesses and restrictions using a 3D scanning and testing process. Other popular Milltek Classic systems include applications for the BMW M3 (E30) and Peugeot 205 GTI – a pair of iconic ‘80s classics which have vastly increased in value during the last decade. While both have been hugely popular vehicles with Milltek customers throughout the company’s history, Milltek says that customers are now moving away from larger, performance-focused exhausts in favour of a factory finish. The latest Mk1 Golf Cabriolet development has also reflected the company’s ‘by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts’ philosophy, calling on Managing Director Steve Pound’s personal Helios Blue example as part of the design and testing work. Steve Pound, Managing Director of Milltek, said: “Demand for the Milltek Classic range has been creeping up over the last two years, and the Mk1 Golf Cabriolet is one of the cars we’ve noticed becoming hot property with our customers. Our designs are tailor-made for those looking to upgrade the performance, sound and durability of their exhaust, benefitting from everything we’ve learned over the last forty years, while keeping a tailpipe design that doesn’t deviate too much from stock.” For more information, customers are invited to contact their nearest Milltek Sport stockist, which can be found at www.millteksport.com, or call Milltek Sport on 01322 227 280.
