2025 model year updates for the Radical SR3 XXR and SR10 XXR

Safety, reliability, performance and personalisation are the key themes from Radical HQ Upgrades for the 2025 model year see the SR10 XXR benefit from significant updates while the SR3 XXR is further refined All updates can be retrofitted to allow existing XXR customers to remain competitive, while some upgrades are being made available to earlier versions of SR3 and SR10 Donington Park, UK (17th September 2024) – Radical has engineered a number of upgrades for its model year 25 (MY25) race cars. This includes several new features and options for the SR XXR model range, allowing customers the opportunity to secure their 2025 season race car at 2024 pricing. Unveiled in a bespoke Daytona Green hue, with complementing green details to further underline its customisation abilities, this latest one-of-one Radical SR10 XXR will not go unnoticed in the paddock. The team at the Cambridgeshire, UK factory has ticked every box on the options list to highlight the new MY25 upgrades, which focus on key themes of safety, reliability, performance and personalisation. SafetyPutting safety first, new seating options have been launched for both SR3 XXR and SR10 XXR. An all-new carbon single seat has been designed in-house by the Radical research and development team in response to customer feedback. This was primarily driven by a demand in the USA where this specification is popular, and sees the new seat feature an integrated wrap-around headrest and made of pre-impregnated carbon fibre, resulting in a seat that is both stronger and lighter than its GRP predecessor. The carbon single seat is available on left-hand drive, right-hand drive and centre-hand drive configurations. For drivers who prefer the twin seat option, to enable in-car driver coaching or exhilarating passenger rides, occupant safety has been further enhanced by the addition of strategically placed Kevlar inserts and stronger seat mounts and bracketry. For all seating options, new and improved harnesses have improved driver comfort while adding further personalisation options with the introduction of four different colour choices. ReliabilityResponding to customer feedback, the Radical Motorsport team is continuously looking to improve the reliability of an already proven formula, using advanced computer modelling to verify areas of potential weakness, and then testing modifications in both virtual and real-world environments prior to deployment. For example, a redesigned bellhousing on the SR10 XXR was based on simulated stress tests and now significantly reduces the chance of cracking. Similarly, by reverse engineering the carbon fibre front splitter, the latest version has adopted new production techniques and aerospace-grade epoxy resin, to create a component that is both more durable and offers a better fitment than the outgoing version. PerformanceIn a world where milliseconds matter on the track, Radical Motorsport has applied its vast engineering knowledge of aerodynamics to shave more milliseconds off lap times by simply altering the radius of the SR10 XXR sidepods. The result may only be a 2.5 per cent shift in balance towards the front axle but when travelling at 160 mph (258 kph) this is amplified to 11.5 per cent more frontal load, which translates to a crucial reduction in understeer and tyre scrub in high-speed corners. Likewise, by changing the ratio on the steering rack from 1:43:1 to 1:71:1 there’s less effort required by the driver, reducing fatigue and increasing both comfort and enjoyment. A new lightweight flywheel and clutch will also benefit SR10 XXR owners, providing quicker blip response and smoother downshifts, which in turn reduces rear axle shift-locking and shortens brake zone duration. PersonalisationRadical offers a number of personalisation options that do not impact the performance of the car but allow them to stand out in the paddock and bring a customer’s dream to reality. In addition to the custom bodywork colours, lightweight Braid wheels can be painted to compliment the body colour. Inside, the driver can now select from a number of different colour harnesses. Additional customisation options include a custom designed livery which can be applied at the factory. Once complete, and quality inspected, the finished car is taken for a photoshoot before being shipped to its final destination, which could be one of 20+ countries via a 30+ strong Radical dealer network. 2025 readyThese MY25 updates further enhance the ownership experience of the world’s best-selling purpose-built race cars. SR3 XXR and SR10 XXR share multiple common updates, along with model-specific features responding to worldwide customer feedback. The release of these models well in advance of the 2025 season gives customers the confidence to upgrade to the latest specification in preparation for next year, as well as take advantage of 2024 pricing. HORSE partners with Lecar to deliver passenger car range extender engine

HORSE will supply 12,000 1.0-litre 3-cylinder “HR10” engines per year to Lecar, Brazil’s newest passenger car automaker Engines to be used in Lecar 459 Hybrid, a new Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) targeted for launch in 2026 First application of the HORSE engines for passenger car Range Extender, following supply for light commercial vehicles customers in the region HORSE is a division of HORSE Powertrain Limited, a global leader in hybrid and combustion powertrain solutions across 17 plants and 5 R&D centres HORSE, a leader in innovative and low emissions powertrain systems, has today signed its first agreement to produce Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) engines for a passenger vehicle: the Lecar 459 Hybrid. Set to launch in 2026, the Lecar 459 Hybrid is the first vehicle from Lecar, Brazil’s newest home-grown electric vehicle (EV) automaker. Founded by Brazilian entrepreneur Flávio Figueiredo Assis, Lecar will introduce a new range of sophisticated and affordable EV models targeted at domestic audiences. HORSE will initially supply Lecar with 12,000 units of its 1.0-litre 3-cylinder ‘HR10’ engines annually, with room to supply more as demand increases. The HR10 engines are tailored to run on low-emissions gasoline and ethanol flex fuels, which are a staple of the Brazilian market. The HR10 units will serve as the combustion engine within the Lecar 459 Hybrid’s Range Extender powertrain. This leverages the HR10’s proven success within HORSE’s own Range Extender solution for light commercial vehicles. Matias Giannini, Chief Executive Officer at HORSE Powertrain Limited, said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for HORSE, Lecar, and Brazilian motorists. For Lecar this agreement allows them the opportunity to leverage HORSE’s proven HR10 engine for a passenger EREV, following the HR10’s successful deployment in Range Extender solutions for light commercial vehicles. “For HORSE, this is a monumental first step into providing combustion engines for passenger vehicle Range Extenders. This deal signals our commitment to Brazil, one of the world’s most exciting automotive markets. It also our signals our relentless commitment to innovation in EREVs, one of the fastest-growing vehicle categories globally – and our ability to support brands and OEMs developing both EVs and combustion engine vehicles.” Best-of-both-world powertrainIn contrast to traditional PHEVs, the combustion engine of an EREV never directly drives the vehicle’s wheels – instead providing charge to the vehicle’s battery via an on-board electric generator. This allows the combustion engine to run at its highest-efficiency state, minimising fuel consumption and emissions. When its battery is fully charged, the EREV’s engine will automatically be turned off. The battery can also be charged in a similar manner to any other EV, using a public charger or domestic power supply. When used with low-carbon fuels, such as the flex fuels popular in the Brazilian market, this means that the cradle-to-grave footprint of the EREV is comparable to an equivalent long-range EV. Patrice Haettel, Chief Executive Officer at HORSE, said: “HORSE was a natural partner for Lecar’s new hybrid passenger car. Our HR10 range extender engine is already at the heart of a light commercial vehicle, built in our rapidly growing operation in Curitiba, so it is proven technology in the market. “Our footprint made us the perfect supplier for Lecar’s vision to create a truly home-grown Brazilian EV. This is a significant milestone for HORSE as it continues to deliver on our strategy of developing tailor-made solutions for every market. We have once again demonstrated our technology and industry leadership, and I am extremely proud of the HORSE teams across the world that have contributed to this engineering and commercial success.” Tried-and-tested technologyThis agreement follows the first Lecar 459 Hybrid prototype in August, which saw the company purchase its very first HR10 unit for testing and configuration in the test vehicle. HORSE’s HR10 engine produces up to 85kW of power and 200Nm of torque thanks to its direct fuel injection, double overhead camshafts, and turbocharger. Produced at HORSE’s plant in Curitiba, Brazil, the HR10 is currently used in HORSE’s own Range Extender solution for light commercial vehicles. Alongside HORSE’s HR10 engine, the Lecar 459 Hybrid will utilise an electric generator from WEG – HORSE’s electric component partner for its fully-integrated light commercial vehicle Range Extender solution. Flávio Figueiredo Assis, Founder and Chief Executive Officer at Lecar, said: “Our team has an incredibly ambitious plan to develop and deliver the Lecar 459 Hybrid, Brazil’s first home-grown EV. To achieve this, HORSE is the ideal partner for us – along with being a world-class supplier of industry-leading combustion engines, HORSE’s production footprint in Brazil is in perfect alignment with Lecar’s vision to revolutionise the Brazilian car market with domestically-produced solutions.” HORSE: a leader in automotive innovationHORSE was created to provide highly efficient, low-emission engines, transmissions, and technologies to meet the varying power generation needs around the world. HORSE operates eight production plants across seven countries, three R&D centres and a head office based in Madrid, Spain – the company produces 3.2 million units per year for its customers around the world.

McLaren GT3 EVO’s race-winning pace frustrated by late safety car at round seven of the FIA WEC at Fuji

McLaren GT3 EVO demonstrates race-winning pace at Fuji FIA WEC round Both McLaren GT3 EVO cars qualify in the top five, with #59 starting third, and #95 fifth Car 59 leads the class for most of the race before safety car intervention thwarts race strategy McLaren Automotive and Racing Partner United Autosports once again exhibited race-winning speed during the FIA World Endurance Championship Six Hours of Fuji but the McLaren GT3 EVO cars had to settle for eighth and seventeenth places, after a late safety car intervention prevented a podium return. The weekend started well with front-running pace in practice and Marino Sato led the way in the opening session. Both Josh Caygill in #95 and James Cottingham in #59 made it through to the ten-minute Hyperpole session to secure third and fifth respectively on the grid. As the field headed down the long start straight into the first corner, Caygill ducked to the inside, with Cottingham, also finding space, to emerge in second and third places, where they would run for the opening laps. This was as high as the #95 car would run, with an issue dropping the car off the lead lap. A valiant effort from team-mates Nico Pino and Sato would see the car finish in seventeenth place. By contrast the #59 car was having a superb run, with Nicolas Costa taking the lead of the LMGT3 field on lap 56 with an assured drive. The McLaren GT3 EVO consolidated its advantage at the front, only yielding during the pit stop sequences. A secure lead was unfortunately wiped out by a late Safety Car period, which made for an incredibly close final 45-minutes of racing, with the top three separated by just a few seconds. Tyre degradation left Gregoire Saucy unable to match his rivals on fresher rubber and the #59 car would finish a frustrating eighth at the chequered flag. The team and drivers now have a six-week break until the final round of the championship in Bahrain, on October 31 to November 2, and will be looking to finish the season on a high. “After a run of really strong results, this has brought us down to earth a bit. The #95 started strong but due to a number of reasons was out of contention within the first hour. It feels particularly unfair on the crew because from their perspective it was faultless. It was equally tough on the #59 which led most of the race, but a Safety Car late on negated the strategic call and the gap we had built up. It’s disappointing but we have to focus on the season finale in Bahrain.”Richard Dean, CEO, United Autosports “Once again it has been a frustrating weekend for both cars, but we must remember this is our first year of the programme and we are battling with the best GT teams in the world. We will take the learnings from each race and keep pushing forwards. “It’s pleasing to see the pure pace of the car and that we are fighting for podiums at this level. We are working with fine margins. After six hours of racing, it all came down to seconds between first and tenth, but I really do think it’s a case of when, not if, that we will be victorious.”Mick McDonagh, Director of MSO Motorsport, McLaren Automotive
