Nick English, who famously co-founded Bremont Watches with his brother Giles, brings a wealth of experience in manufacturing and luxury lifestyle brands to MOKE. He remains a board director of Bremont, where he grew the business – that became synonymous with the repatriation and production of luxury mechanical timepieces on British shores – before handing over to new management as part of a strategic investment round, valuing the business at £100m. His vision and expertise will be instrumental in driving MOKE’s expansion and continuing its legacy of delivering exceptional and unique vehicles to freedom fighters in beautiful locations around the globe. Discussing his appointment, Nick English, Executive Chairman, MOKE International said: “I am thrilled to be joining MOKE International at such a pivotal time. The MOKE brand holds a special place in automotive history, and I look forward to working with the talented team to build on its legacy, continue and grow the manufacturing of the cars in the UK, and explore new opportunities for innovation and expansion. Isobel has done a fabulous job homologating the Electric MOKE for use in both USA and EU, and I’m much looking forward to building on that.” As part of this transition, Isobel Dando will be stepping away from her role as CEO, which she held for the past four years. MOKE International extends its heartfelt gratitude to Isobel for her contribution to relaunching the brand. She commented: “Hiring Nick is a real coup for MOKE. I am delighted to be handing over the reins to him; to further build on everything the team have achieved to date. He is passionate about British engineering – be it flying planes, making watches or driving cars – and, as a serial entrepreneur, I believe he has exactly what we need to further develop the business.” MOKE has raised $35m of investment to date, which it has deployed to reshore production to the UK, secure its trademark, and engineer and homologate the Electric MOKE in both the USA and Europe. It was the first electric vehicle with no roof or doors to achieve M1 Small Series approval in Europe and the first to be granted NHTSA and EPA approval in the US through the Low Volume Vehicle Manufacturers Act. The Electric MOKE is predominantly made of European parts and is manufactured in the UK. The success of MOKE attracted a bid for the business by EV Technology Group in 2022 in a deal valuing the shares at up to $120m, however MOKE International retained its independence and the proposed merger with Fablink, the manufacturing business, never materialised. With a waiting list of circa 800 orders worth over $25m, MOKE International and its board are excited about ramping up, and vertically integrating production in the UK. Hyundai IONIQ 5 N named Best Performance Car at Autocar Awards 2024

Electric hot Hyundai picks up top honour from the experts at Autocar Judges hail N model as a game changer that is “huge fun to drive” Award follows a string of accolades throughout 2024 for EV trailblazer IONIQ 5 N is available to order from £65,000 Leatherhead, June 26th 2024 – Serial winner the Hyundai IONIQ 5N has claimed yet another high-profile honour by being named Best Performance Car in the 2024 Autocar Awards. The prestigious awards are held annually by the world’s oldest motoring magazine and recognise the very best cars on sale today in a variety of key areas of the market. The ground-breaking IONIQ 5 N was up against a number of traditional internal combustion models from established high-performance brands, as well as an array of ultra-powerful electrified cars, but won over the expert judging panel thanks to the sheer enjoyment it delivers for drivers. Mark Tisshaw, Autocar Editor, said: “The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N changes the game for performance cars and for electric vehicles as a car that is huge fun to drive on the road and track. Instant electric power joins forces with a very cleverly tuned rear differential to make it more interactive than many lighter ICE powered cars, and it feels completely natural from behind the wheel, and not intimidating at all. “But as well as being absorbing and engaging when you want to have fun, its completeness makes it a car that you want to drive as often as you possibly can. It is genuinely comfortable, has truly usable range and benefits from the same rapid charging as the IONIQ 5. It’s a revelation.” The high-performance model is based on the same Electrified-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) as the standard IONIQ 5 – the 2022 World Car of the Year – and integrates the motorsport-bred technologies and expertise of Hyundai’s N division to take driving enjoyment to a new level. Among a host of key technical advances is a powertrain which delivers greater power output and enhanced performance in battery cooling and braking. The IONIQ 5 N’s electric motors spin up to 21,000 RPM, providing up to 609 PS in normal conditions, or 650 PS when the car’s N Grin Boost (NGB) feature is engaged, maximising acceleration for up to 10 seconds. 0-62mph is achievable in 3.4 seconds, while a top speed of 161mph is attainable on tracks. Other upgrades include a strengthened steering column for improved feedback, Electronic Controlled Suspension that adapts suspension stiffness according to the drive mode, and a suite of sophisticated electronic control technology in the E-GMP platform. Highlights include N Pedal, an intelligent software function that provides instant turn-in and enhanced throttle sensitivity for exhilarating cornering, and fully variable front and rear N Torque Distribution. The IONIQ 5 N also sets a new benchmark in terms of emotional engagement for a performance EV, courtesy of N e-shift, which simulates the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission of internal combustion engine N cars, while the addictive soundtrack comes via innovative N Active Sound+ technology. N e-shift and N Active Sound+ were praised by Autocar, with Mark Tisshaw adding: “There are a lot of settings menus to experiment with, and the IONIQ 5 lets you tailor the driving experience to your driving preferences. Within reason, it can be whatever you want it to be.” The recognition from Autocar is the latest in a series of accolades for the IONIQ 5 N, including being crowned 2024 World Performance Car in the World Car Awards. In December it was named TopGear.com’s overall 2023 Car of the Year, following that up in May as Best EV Hot Hatch in the TopGear.com Electric Awards. In the same month, CAR hailed it as the world’s best electric performance car following a definitive seven-car test, while earlier in June it won Auto Trader’s Rory Reid Award as the finest model tested by the presenter over the past year. The IONIQ 5 N has also made history at the Nürburgring, where it recorded the fastest electric SUV lap time with Germany’s Sport Auto. Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, said: “The awards just keep on coming for the Hyundai IONIQ 5 N, a car we have consistently described as a game changer for electrified performance. It is pleasing to see that the experts at Autocar agree, and also recognise that as well as being a great car to drive, the IONIQ 5 is comfortable and extremely user friendly, making it an exceptional ownership proposition.” For more information on the IONIQ 5 N, which is available to order from £65,000, visit www.hyundai.co.uk

Autocar Awards honour Volkswagen ID.7 and the brand’s design chief Andreas Mindt

Electric ID.7 named Best Saloon at 2024 Autocar Awards Judges describe the ID.7 as ‘subtle, restrained and classy’ Design Hero award for Andreas Mindt recognises 31-year career and the German’s instant impact when he returned to Volkswagen Milton Keynes – Volkswagen is celebrating two outstanding wins at the 2024 Autocar Awards: the ID.7 was named Best Saloon and the company’s Head of Design, Andreas Mindt, was honoured with the magazine’s prestigious Design Hero award. The ID.7 was praised for possessing no obvious weaknesses and offering a quiet confidence that is so often synonymous with Volkswagen cars. “This big electric car begs to be underestimated; it is subtle, restrained and – dare we say it – classy,” said the judges. “This is an electric saloon that makes few, if any, demands of its driver, combining superb road manners with intuitive driveability that makes any journey a cinch. It really is excellent.” The award for Andreas Mindt was a reflection of the German design maestro’s immediate impact since he re-joined the brand in 2023, and for a 31-year career that has spawned modern-day classics including the Volkswagen Golf Mk VII, the Audi e-tron GT – while spearheading a realignment of the brand’s exterior design – and the limited-run Bentley Batur, which helped chart the brand’s future electric models. Mark Tisshaw, Autocar Editor, said: “Andreas Mindt is sparking fresh life into one of the world’s biggest car brands. Upon his return to Wolfsburg in February 2023 he had just weeks to pen the ID. 2all, a machine that neatly balanced modern design with retro flourishes and was incredibly well received. The concept was upbeat, friendly and infectiously enthusiastic – much like the man who led its design. “Andreas has had an immediate impact upon his return and Volkswagen cars are embracing the brand’s traditions without getting stuck in the past – which is why we have named him our Design Hero for 2024.” After collecting his award, Andreas said: “I am deeply honoured to receive the Design Hero award. This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire team. Together, we found a way to design the true Volkswagen, which is characterised by our design values: Stable, Likeable, and Secret Sauce. Our commitment to excellence and our passion for creating vehicles that resonate with our customers have driven us to achieve this milestone.” One of the biggest events on the automotive calendar, the Autocar Awards recognise the industry’s highest achievers, including heroes from the design, engineering and motorsport worlds, as well as the best cars people can buy in the UK in a wide variety of categories. Commenting on the awards, Volkswagen UK Director Rod McLeod said: “We are very pleased that Autocar – the world’s oldest, and one of the most respected, motoring titles – has presented Volkswagen and Andreas Mindt with these awards. “The ID.7 is our top-of-the-range electric car and encompasses everything that people love about Volkswagen. It offers luxury with engineering excellence and appealing everyday practicality, and it is leading the charge towards e-mobility. It is also fantastic news that Andreas has won the Design Hero award, which is so richly deserved.” (ends) About the Volkswagen brand:A total of 162,087 new Volkswagen passenger vehicles were registered in the UK in 2023, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT). This equated to a market share of 8.52 per cent – an increase of 0.35 per cent compared with the previous year – and made Volkswagen the UK’s best-selling new-car brand for the third year running. The Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand has a global presence, producing vehicles at 29 locations in 12 countries, and employs approximately 170,000 people. In 2023, Volkswagen delivered around 4.87 million vehicles worldwide. These included bestsellers such as the Polo, T-Roc, T-Cross, Golf, Tiguan and Passat, as well as the successful all-electric ID. models. Volkswagen handed over about 394,000 all-electric vehicles to customers worldwide in 2023 and, with its ACCELERATE strategy, is consistently advancing its ambition to become the most desirable brand for sustainable mobility. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service expands its fleet with the Škoda Kodiaq

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue service has grown its vehicle fleet with a delivery of 21 Škoda Kodiaqs The cars will be used for flexible duty officer transport duties when attending operational incidents The Kodiaqs were chosen for their spacious interior – particularly the large and flexible boot – with a turnkey conversion direct from Škoda via its approved converter Milton Keynes, 25 June 2024 – Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue has expanded its vehicle fleet with a fresh delivery of Kodiaq SUVs. Fully prepared for duty thanks to a Škoda approved converter, the Kodiaqs will be used by the service for flexible duty officer transport when attending incidents. The Kodiaqs, now part of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue fleet, are the first Škodas to be used by the service. The SUV features a 2.0-litre TDI 200 PS engine with DSG transmission and all-wheel drive, providing a blend of performance and efficiency with plenty of power and torque. Used across a range of functions, the Škoda Kodiaqs used by Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue will be undertaking flexible duty officer transport duties when they need to attend operational incidents, such as road traffic collisions and hazardous material incidents. The cars have been converted by one of Škoda’s approved conversion specialists Pressfab EVO Limited, to meet their specific requirements – particularly around the practical load area with grille and fire extinguishing apparatus – plus the fitment of blue-lights and fully integrated communications equipment. Colin Carter, Fleet Operations Manager, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We have opted for a fleet of Kodiaqs largely due to the amount of space on offer inside. The large boot has enough room for all of the equipment required by our flexible duty fire officers, and the option of having the cars converted by Škoda’s approved converters prior to delivery makes it much easier for us to get the vehicles into service.” Škoda cars can be specified by emergency fleets for Ambulance, Police and Fire and Rescue teams across the UK via Škoda’s bespoke emergency service converters. This includes integration of the emergency services’ communications platform within the infotainment touchscreen and 360-degree lighting. Individual conversion requirements can also be catered for with Škoda’s approved specialist converters.

Iconic 1957 Ferrari 335 S entered into Salon Privé Concours 2024 by American collector

Salon Privé Concours 2024 at Blenheim Palace sees a highly storied 1957 Ferrari 335 S entered by an American collector Chassis #0674 has been driven by Stirling Moss, Peter Collins, Mike Hawthorn, Wolfgang von Trips and others Used as reference for ‘Ferrari’ film by Michael Mann Salon Privé Concours 2024 at Blenheim Palace to be held on 28-31 August 19th year of Salon Privé in 2024: ‘The UK’s most exclusive automotive garden party’ Salon Privé Concours presented by Aviva runs on 28-31 August 2024. Tickets available at https://www.salonpriveconcours.com/ An American collector is entering a highly storied, world-famous 1957 Ferrari 335 S into this summer’s Salon Privé Concours at Blenheim Palace, to be held on 28-31 August. Chassis number ‘0674’ had a rich racing career and was driven by stars of 1950s motorsport, before spending more than 40 years as part of famed Ferrari collector Pierre Bardinon’s collection. Salon Privé Concours guests will now have a rare chance to see this remarkable car up close. Acknowledged by many as one of the greatest Ferraris ever, the 335 S starred in the epic 1957 World Sports Car Championship, pipped against fellow front-engined lightweight aluminium-bodied two-seater cars with unlimited engine sizes. What marks the 335 S out is its exceptional four-cam engine, Ferrari’s first. The V12 Tipo 130 block gained new heads with two camshafts per bank, and a remarkable 24 spark plugs, 12 for each 60-degrree vee. As was often the case in 1950s motorsport, this famed Ferrari started out as a 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti, with chassis number ‘0626’. The right-hand drive racer was driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in the 1956 Mille Miglia, where it finished fourth. Finished in red with a nose band in Argentine colours, it then finished third in the Nurburgring 1000km, driven by Phil Hill and Ken Wharton. It also later came second in the Swedish GP, driven by the iconic German racer Wolfgang von Trips. The car was converted to a 315 S Barchetta after the Swedish GP, with a 3.8-litre version of the new engine. The chassis, now renumbered ‘0674’, was developed from 1956’s Type 520, with voluptuous bodywork crafted by Scaglietti. Suspension was quite sophisticated, although Ferrari persisted with drum brakes, rather than the latest trend for discs. It first raced in 315 S guise in the 1957 Sebring 12 Hours, with drivers Peter Collins and Maurice Trintignant setting the pace early on and eventually finishing sixth, behind the dominant Maseratis. Wolfgang von Trips then took it over for the Mille Miglia, where he finished second in what was to be the final Mille Miglia, following a tragic mid-race accident. For the 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, the car was uprated again, to its current 335 S guise. Mike Hawthorn and Luigi Musso raced, and set a ferocious pace early on, although the car didn’t finish due to an engine problem. It did take a creditable fourth place in the Swedish GP on 11 August though, again driven by Hawthorn and Musso. Later in the year, the car was modified by Scaglietti to a ‘pontoon’ style, in order to improve brake cooling for the season finale in sweltering Caracas. Ferrari duly finished 1-2-3-4 in the race, with ‘0674’ driven by Hawthorn and Luigi Musso following home the winning duo of Peter Collins and Phil Hill. ‘0674’ was then sold to Luigi Chinetti’s NART operation, and was entered for the famous Cuban Grand Prix best known for Juan Manuel Fangio’s kidnapping. With Stirling Moss and Masten Gregory behind the wheel, the 335 S won the Havana event. Chinetti then repainted it in NART’s legendary blue with a white stripe, and it was later acquired by Mike Garber to race in SCCA events, where a highlight included a win in the Road America 500. After two seasons of competition, the 335 S was by now looking rather race-worn. Garber sold the car to Robert Duesk, known for saving many famous Ferraris, who soon approached noted French collector Pierre Bardinon. Discussions continued for many years, before Bardinon finally agreed to purchase the car in 1970. Once the Ferrari arrived in France, Bardinon’s team began researching it to inform a restoration. It was sent to Carrozzeria Fantuzzi in Modena, where the ‘pontoon’ nose was changed back to the original (the original was retained for display), and the bodywork repainted red. It was then regularly used on the private track Bardinon had built in the grounds of his home. While it rarely left the gates of his private museum, it was still often driven, and also showcased to invited enthusiasts and clubs. The current owner, an American collector, acquired the car at the 2005 Artcurial Retromobil Auction, for nearly £25 million. Described as a Ferrari with a most significant race history, this iconic model has since been showcased at many blue riband events, including Finali Mondiali Daytona and the Ferrari Classiche Concours. In a noteworthy extra piece of provenance, this Ferrari 335 S was meticulously examined prior to filming the new Michael Mann epic, ‘Ferrari’. This focused on the 1957 season that ‘0674’ starred in, with particular focus on the Mille Miglia race in which it finished second. The production team built replicas for the film shoot based on the inspection of this car – securing its place in movie history too! “I’m thrilled this exceptional Ferrari is to join us at Salon Privé Concours this summer,” said Concours Chairman Andrew Bagley. “It has a truly remarkable history, piloted by some of the most iconic racing drivers in the world, and the period records and images that abound for this car justify its status as one of the greatest Ferraris ever built. Thanks to the enthusiasm of our American collector friend, it is set to be a real highlight of our Blenheim Palace event and I look forward to guests from around the world being able to inspect this car.” Entries are closing soon for the 19th edition of the Salon Privé Concours presented…

The New Continental GT Speed: redefining the definitive Grand Tourer

Fourth-generation Continental GT Speed becomes the most powerful road going Bentley ever created All-new 782 PS, 1000 Nm ‘Ultra Performance Hybrid’ powertrain 50 miles / 81 km of electric range, and CO2 emissions of 29 g/km* 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds (0-100 km/h in 3.2 secs) Top speed 208 mph (335 km/h) Latest generation brings bolder design DNA, with single headlamps, that heralds a design revolution for Bentley 68 per cent new components versus outgoing third generation World-leading four-seat interior can offer wellness seat technology, new air ionisation, 3D leather, new quilting and new dark chrome finish All new electrical architecture enables integration of new class-leading technology for unrivalled user experience in the luxury car sector ‘My Bentley App Studio’ integrates popular apps directly into the car New GTC Speed launched simultaneously with coupe sibling New Continental GT Speed sets unofficial ‘underwater speed record’ of 208 mph (335 km/h) through the deepest tunnel in the world Handcrafted at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, in a virtually limitless number of possible configurations (Crewe, 25 June 2024) Bentley Motors is proud to reveal the fourth generation Continental GT Speed, following in the 21-year tradition of the Continental GT family by redefining the ultimate blend of supercar performance, handcrafted luxury and everyday usability. A comprehensive exterior and interior redesign with clean modern detailing follow the new design DNA established by the coachbuilt Bentley Bacalar and Batur. Outstanding performance is brought by an all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain with 782 PS and 1,000 Nm, from a 4.0-litre V8 working in tandem with a 190 PS electric motor. 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds is the result, with the benefit of 50 miles (81 km) of usable electric-only range (on the EU drive cycle) and a total range of 534 miles (859 km) – creating an everyday supercar. The performance of the powertrain is matched by a new chassis system, with new two-chamber air springs paired with new dual-valve dampers, along with Bentley Dynamic Ride (48V active anti-roll control), eLSD and torque vectoring. Incredible body control and the best Continental GT ride comfort to date are the results, supported by a 49:51, rear-biased weight distribution for the first time in the car’s history. Under the skin, a suite of modern innovative technology delivers class-leading capability so that every journey is a seamless experience in terms of driver assistance, infotainment systems and connected car services. The new exterior continues the design revolution for Bentley’s future journey, with the biggest revision to the face of the Continental GT in two decades, and the first mainstream Bentley with single headlamps since the 1950s. World-leading Bentley interior cabin design, materials, quality, and craftsmanship continue with the introduction of further wellness seat technology, new air ionisation, three-dimensional leather textures, new modern quilting, and technical finishes such as new dark chrome. A completely new 400-volt electrical architecture enables the most advanced suite of powertrain technology to be offered by a luxury automotive brand today, delivering emissions of 29 g/km of CO2 and an electric range of 50 miles / 81 km on the WLTP drive cycle. For the first time in the history of the Continental GT, the convertible Continental GTC is being launched concurrently with the coupe – providing ultimate flexibility for customers who appreciate both open topped and closed roof motoring. Both coupe and convertible models will be crafted entirely by hand at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Production and deliveries are due to begin in Q3. The Ultra Performance HybridFor the new Continental GT Speed, a brand-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain has been developed. The new powertrain combines a new 4.0 litre V8 engine capable of producing 600 PS (584 bhp) with a 190 PS (187 bhp) electric motor. Peak system output is 782 PS (771 bhp) – enough for a 0-60 mph sprint time of just 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 208 mph (335 km/h). System torque is increased by over 11 per cent compared to the outgoing W12-powered Continental GT Speed, from 900 Nm = to 1000 Nm (738 lb ft). System power has also increased by 19 per cent, from 659 PS to 782 PS. This makes the new Continental GT Speed the most powerful Bentley ever, beyond the levels of the second-generation Supersports and the Batur. The power is delivered via an eight-speed dual clutch transmission and an electronic limited slip differential (eLSD) to all four wheels, for exceptional power delivery and reliable traction in all conditions. The system uses active torque vectoring front to rear through a centre differential, and precision vectoring across each axle using the brakes. There are three key powertrain system elements: The new 600 PS, 800 Nm (590 lb ft) V8 engine – with no traditional vacuum system, and 350 bar fuel injection pressure (raised from 200 bar) provides cleaner combustion and improved emissions. With the e-motor negating turbo lag, twin single-scroll turbochargers have been used – which reduces complexity and allows them to run hotter, minimising emissions. Therefore, no cylinder deactivation hardware is required, as the engine can be switched off entirely when using the electric motor. The 190 PS, 450 Nm (332 lb ft) electric motor within the transmission housing delivers torque-fill at low engine speed and does the same during gear shifts for extra smoothness. The 25.9 kWh battery, which is mounted behind the rear axle. This helps achieve a perfect weight distribution and up to 85 per cent of the battery capacity is useable. The system manages the energy flows dependent upon the mode chosen – with pure EV, electric boost, regenerative braking – and, most importantly for this new GT Speed – a charge mode, where the engine drives the wheels and charges the battery at the same time. The new class-leading powertrain delivers extreme performance and sets the latest Continental GT apart from other competitors – with more horsepower, more torque and a significant drop in CO2 and fuel consumption figures to around one tenth of equivalent conventional petrol powertrains.
